Figured, I'd give this cruddy Bionc thing another try. Still sucks, but I'm gonna help out some to insure we crush the deadline for Number 1 in rosetta. Oh, and thanks for the welcome guys :)

be sure to grab yourself one of those dubiously-optimized BOINC clients. since rosetta doesnt duplicate WUs and average the scores, your credit is directly proportional to your whetstone/dhrystone benchmarks done in the client (see the other thread for my rant about that)

Where can the optimized clients be found?

If you want to get the most credit run windows

Linux benches very low, even the optimised clients bench lower than windows.

Actually thinking about it everyone running boinc on windows is cheating cos the benches are too high :jester:

Yeah I noticed my Celeron's running Windows were out benchmarking my P4 2.4ghz running Linux. Luckly I got about 9 windows boxen I can throw it on, if I decide to deploy them all. I've got 5 of 9 on it right now. Going to let them run about 24 hours and see how things go. Then I may throw another 4 on tomorrow.

ah heck, maybe someone can dig up a whet/dhrystone implementation in x86/x86-64 assembly... can drop it right into the client, build, and away you go... and if youre willing to go beyond that and out-and-out cheat, why not just dispense with the benching altogether and hack up the client...

thanks for the advice on windows though... may have to go borg my wife's box (the only windows box i have:) )
