Well I had to do something I was getting too depressed over the closing of FAD
More the 1/2 my fleet will not have enough Ram and or hard drive space to run this.
But at least it will not be Cold Turkey for me:bang: :neener:

Lauren

Glad you have decided to give rosetta a go.
You will probably find boinc a royal PITA at first but it will grow on you.

Yepp you will need to get some more RAM into your nodes.
512k for a single 1GB for a Dualie.

You can run with less it just uses the swap file.

I know the boinc post says you need 512, but I've got a couple linux nodes running w/256 and it only seems to be using 120. Those nodes have no swap setup. They've been returning jobs and getting credit. Maybe the difference is that they aren't running Windoze memory gobbler o/s.

The bad news is that the exact same machine running windoze gets this:
Measured floating point speed 1532.32 million ops/sec
Measured integer speed 2627.47 million ops/sec
versus the same machine running linux:
Measured floating point speed 1050.84 million ops/sec
Measured integer speed 1719.43 million ops/sec

You are using optimized boinc clients right ?

And yes. 256m should be fine, a lot of mine only have that much and I show no difference in points returned on those boxes..

No not yet; havent had time. Still setting up nodes. No optimized linux boinc5 yet from what I saw.
