Ok, just installed the client on one dual core Opteron 165 and it is only using 80% of the CPU power... is this normal or is there something I have to do to make it use 100% of the power?

Also, I only have to include [Free-DC.org] after my name to join the team, right?

TIA

Welcome Jeff.

Yes you just need to put [Free-DC.org] at the end of your name in the user.txt file:

Example:
PY 222[Free-DC.org]

As for only getting 80%, have you made any changes to config.txt?

I don't have a single dual core. So I have no experience with them but I have a dual Opteron that runs at 99% all the time.

of my X2

must be some other process out there. Do you use the backgroup.exe or cmdline.bat?

I just clicked on the cmdline.bat file.

Nope, I didn't change a thing. But I just tried changing threads from "auto" to "2" and it is still only using 78%-82%. Could it be because I'm running 2.6-2.7GHz?

using auto?

Strange it's always grabbed 100% on anything I have run it on.

You haven't got that nasty Dimes running?

Yep, but I'm still wasting 10%-15% on "System Idle Process". If I could get DPAD running at least up to 90%-95% I'd be happy... I don't mind donating a few cycles to DIMES.

BTW, it is doing the same thing on all three of my DC Opteron rigs.

What about increasing the Priority on the muon.exe process?

Setting it to "above normal" does nothing and setting it to "high" basically feezes the system. ;)

I'll try it with everything else(including DIMES) shut down to see if it's something stealing cycles from it. If so, I'll be confused why "System Idle Process" is getting so many cycles.

Make two DIR Muon $ Muon1 and run 2 Muon clients at one time Let them fight over the unused cycles

That is a great backup plan Lauren. Thanks!

Did that worked Jeff?

I tested it on my X2-4400 with one instance, took 98% of the cycles.
Nothing else was running. :dunno:

Spyware?

It's the Virtual Machines I'm running. :( I'm a little disappointed because I would think that there wouldn't be any Idle Process... but there is as soon as I load up the VMs.

Oh well... 80% is better than nothing. ;)

Thanks for the help guys.
