Assuming I take good care of it, how many rewrites can I use a DVD-RW for before it's time to move on?

If it helps, I believe they're Sonic brand DVD-RWs.

Optical media is easily damaged.
CD's/DVD's are not a reliable storage medium.

They are best regarded as cheap temporary storage only.

Strangely when first introduced they were virtually indestructable.
Tommorows World showed the first Phillips players reading discs covered in Jam :)

I bet it was Micheal Rod or Raymond Baxter too. :)

Perhaps the best-remembered item in the programme's history was the introduction of the compact disc, when presenter Kieran Prendiville demonstrated the disc's supposed indestructibility by spreading strawberry jam on it. The show also gave the first British TV exposure to the group Kraftwerk, who performed their then-forthcoming single Autobahn as part of an item about the use of technology in musicmaking.

The show aired in 1981 if memory serves.

Strawberry jam and Kraftwerk? Damn...sorry I missed that.

As far as I know, the library world still hasn't decided how long CDs and DVDs are good for. I suspect handling is a good part of the issue.
