I was wondering what optimized client everyone was using right now? I think my benchmarks on my 4800x2 are low and wanted to see what I could do about it. Running WinXP. Any comments appreciated.

I'll chime in here...
What I am using with a 275 rig:

boinc_5.2.13_windows_intelx86.exe -->the main client
Boinc_5.2.13_P4_Athlon64_SSE2.zip -->the Crunch3r optimized update

3429 double precision MIPS (Whetstone) per CPU
10559 integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU

I found this looking for the links tho...

Update: Chrunch3r doesn't want anyone using his optimized applications anymore,
or redistributing them. So please don't e-mail request for the 5.12 optimized files.

There is still BOINC-Studio available:

Never tried it though...

Now that the Rosetta 5.22 client is out and they are recommending everyone to upgrade to the new BOINC 5.4.9 release, what is the best optimized client to use these days for the 5.4 series in Windows?

I installed the latest 5.4.9 official client and on top of that crunch3rs 5.5.0 (which consists only of two files boinc.exe and boinc.dll). That gives me all the features of 5.4.9 but the speed... :)

The crunch3r 5.5.0 works fine - good ! benchmarks and it does 'report results immediately' automatically, which really helps the RAC.

I only DL'd the SSE version though, for my XP2600+

What happened to crunch3r's website, it just seems to redirect to Einstein@Home website now??

I'm not quite shure but he left einstein@home and said he would not continue to develop optimized clients... but I can't remember the reason.

I read something about it at the rosetta@home forum...

I think crunch3r left Seti and moved to Einstein, that is why his web site does the redirect. He is posting on Einstein forums but hasn't said much about doing any tweaking yet.

I was looking for crunch3r's website online and read some interesting stuff that happened to him. He was accused of cheating in the Seti forums and taking advantage of the boinc code. Sounded pretty silly to me. That's why he pulled all of his optimized clients.

I've switched to optimized clients now. I'm interested in seeing if my scores shoot up now.

Thanks for all the help guys!!!

Yeah, it's a damn shame that he was given such rotten treatment.
His Boinc clients are the ones to use if you run Linux :thumbs:

OK Ive got access for a short time via dial up to home.
I posted a file with the benchmarks fromt he new crubnch 5.5 somewhere her and the differemnce in crdit is a lot!
Look em up people and benchmark more than once if you don see an increase cos the SSE" sees anmajor increase but I had to try twice and kill everyhrting else not in use off to get the increase.
Once agin sorry fort he spelling etc.
regards all from a very warm, Unuseially Aberdeeeeeeennn.
