Replaced my DP 1.8 G5 with a CoreDuo 2.0Ghz iMac this past week.

The DP 1.8 G5 did ~60g nodes/sec

The CoreDuo 2.0 does ~ 56.7g nodes/sec

Advantage: Still PPC

The iMac gets to around 169F. A 2.0 G5 iMac I had spiked at 176F during OGR. iMac's are definately not set up for optimal cooling.

Don't think I'll be running OGR on this thing.

I would be interested in knowing what the difference in timings are for RC-5, if you have the time. :Pokes:

Beyond,

I have the G5 disconnected for shipping but will do before it happens.

I tested on the 2Ghz CoreDuo and got 10,758,xxx keys/sec.

Does that sound right?

1.47GHz mac mini does 300 blocks per day on RC5, 3T nodes on OGR.

I did a test for Beyond. i don't do RC-5. How does keys/sec translate to blocks? Or give me a measurement in keys/sec of your mini.

According to Bok's stats 300 blocks = 15.00 Mkeys/sec

That's a G4 mini no? That prolly explains it. Or the auto detection routine didn't select the best core for the CoreDuo.

Yes, just throwing it out there for some PPC lovin ;)

Thanks for testing.

The rule of thumb on dnet is 10:1 ratio OGR:RC5 on AMD and somewhat less on Intel in the past. Was not sure if it still held true with the newer processors.

My Core 2 Duo at 3.6Ghz is doing 93 Mnodes/sec with core #2. With core #3 it hits ~110 Mnodes/sec but crashes. Hopefully it will be fixed in the next beta.

Advantage PC!

Now to get my hands on Quad Core and overclock it!

huh, I never consider crunching on the mac mini in one corner or the iMac in the other. Might be time to see what the PPCs will do. I better dust em first!:rotfl:
