Ok,

we are doing pretty well right now, hovering around the 300M mark for rate. This gives us something in the region of close to 30T per day I think.

Currently we are 3000T behind the teams immediately above us, so we really need to be gaining at a higher rate to keep this interesting..

Anandtech have seemingly lost their top producer knocking their rate down to only 50-60M which helps us somewhat..

Just firing up some clients on this jobby... regarding offline clients and sbqueue. Is it possible to download WU's and transfer them to a permanently offline server, complete the units then transfer them back to a inet connected workstation for upload?

Actually AMD's don't suck at SOB.

One of my fastest boxes on SOB is a dual core A64.
2640mhz x2, easily matches the output of my Pentium D's

Note:
The old XP's are poor performers though, no SSE2.

On linux it's very easy as it's all in just two files, a zXXXXXXX file and a cache file. Windows though goes into the registry. It's certainly doable, but a little more work involved.

I'll get on board as soon as I solve a problem caused by a Windows update(for the second time). I turn on my computer, it boots up, and when it's finished booting up, it pretends like I've told it to shut down. Thankfully, when it shuts down, it saves state before shutting down, so, statistically, less chance for damage.

My dad's on the phone with Dell, but I'm pretty sure Microsoft should be the one handling this problem.

Please don't let this response change the topic, if I need help, I'll post in the hardware forum. I just wanted to vent.

Okay, I'm processing a k/n pair right now. In a few days, my other project will finish up, and I'll assign a k/n value to that core, too.

One comment: I've turned off,"Turn in intermediate blocks" to improve the throughput a few percentage points.

I'll post my c/em's(no idea of the proper way to write that) as soon as it's been running for 2 or more hours. I've got Majestic-12 running, so there are times when SOB really slows down. I'm glad the cem's are posted as an average, that'll help me figure out how much I'm putting out.

Question:Are the cem's averaged out over the entire duration of a test?

jasong
08-15-2006, 07:02 PM
About the comment box that the SOB client has: It only seems to update when it attempts to contact the server, so if you've turned off,"Turn in intermediate blocks", there's a good chance the information is no longer accurate.

Mine will probably tell me there are 6300 blocks left in the test for the next week or so, which is when it'll call in and get a new test.

Ah ok, been looking at sbqueue, looks like you can use that in a similar way to FAD. Use it to download WU's, export them to an offline SBqueue - that sbqueue install then acts as the proxy for all other offline clients. Bit of effort needed but would mean a single offline collection point...

Might experiment with it, be nice to get a few Xeon servers crunching too.

Check the k/n numbers... they are most likely running the same one, you only get points (I think) for one of them..

To install the service (on a commandline)

cd \Program Files\SB

sobsvc -i

then start the service as normal..

724.5T in the last month, 272.9T of that in the last week at that rate we could hit a 1P 28 day period soon.

Look forward to those :dump: next week!!

And I'm VERY interested to see what kind of output PY will be doing :bouncy:

We are currently averaging ~ 1.9T every update (every hour) right now which is phenomenal. 90 days or so for the overtake, I expect this to come down some as our average picks up though, how about < October 25th... (my daughters 1st birthday :) )

Yesterday we hit 63.944T

Our weekly output has hit 354.3T which is incidently more than Anandtech have done in the last 28 days and clsoing in on Team Retro's 28 day production.

Our production for the last 28 days has risen to 907.5T and this will rise as our pre-ramp numbers drop out of the 28 day period under scrutiny.

I expect to see our 28 day output hit 1P.

Well I can't find anything about Team Retro but the other 3 we all know Anandtech, the Cows and Ars.

Anandtech have daily stats for SoB so are already aware of our threat, but seem not to be bothered about doing anything about it, yet.

The Cows also have daily stats AND are already talking about how to counter the Free DC march on 2nd in S0B.

Ars, of course, are way up the road and even if they weren't they'd usually roll over and play dead at any hint of a fair fight. :Pokes:

So we are currently on track for 2nd place before 2007.

Daily average now over 50T, weekly stable at over 350T(no surprise there), last 28 day figure now up to 947T. Overtakes Retro, Anandtech and DPC, 61, 63 and 88 days. So could be on target for Bok's sprog's birthday

Any way to get sob to run through a proxy?

MerePeer
10-04-2006, 08:28 PM
I dont know myself. Maybe playing with Server* in the sclient.conf file works? Here's what it says:

# The address of the SB server to connect to. You shouldn't
# need to change this unless you're doing something incredibly
# unauthorized with our client! (Or if you're using a proxy.)
#
# Currently a ServerAddress of sbp.pns.net along with either
# ServerPort 80 or ServerPort 22 will allow you to go around
# most packet filtering firewalls. Try these if you experience
# difficulty connecting.
ServerAddress sb.pns.net
ServerPort 1717

-----------
PS a reminder under linux to cd to your sb dir prior to running "./sb sclient.conf" so that it will locate the created "cache" and "znnnnnnnn" files upon subsequent startups and continue where it left off.

Then we have the real work to get after the Cows.

Now I know we were kind of looking at Oct 25th as a watershed to maybe have a look at other things, but the Cows have foiled our carefully managed scenario.

PCZ and IB will be reducing output due to real world factors. Some others will be turning to other projects.

I will keep my boxen on SoB until DPC are eating Free DC trail dust. Now I don't know how you guys are fixed for this. The Waht are your intentions poll seemed to suggest many were on board until we had some Cow steaks.

Why on earth does one need to hunt a domesticated animal?:Pokes: :rotfl: :looney:

Now, cow-tipping on the other hand, now that's fun.:looney: (Not that I've ever tried it.)

You aren't supposed to actually be able to tip a cow from what I've heard from a few farmers. If you do in fact pull it off it's supposed to break 2 of their legs and basically you've just killed that animal because it's no longer of any use to the farmer.

the chances of pushing a cow over are slim. A calf maybe but a grown cow you'd have to be incredibly strong and the cow would have to be on a slippery slope.

Flat ground, no chance.

Looks like the cows are running for it. More power everyone, let's go get 'em.

If you sneak up on them...
seen it on TV once where two college frat boys did it.
Two of them ran at the cow together and knocked it over.

The Cows are only 960T ahead of us and we are currently gaining at around 55 - 60T a day.

So another 19 days if things stay as they are, which I doubt they will.

We are losing power here and gaining some there, so who knows how it will all pan out.

Only 18 days to November the 5th so the Cows continue to foil our expectations although the end result will be the same.

Resistance is futile. :borg:

Only 7.5 days until barbecue!

We are about 5.5 days from Halloween. I wish there was just a little more firepower out there and we could have a Halloween Bonfire with Cow on the menu!!! :)

CaptainMooseInc

Well seeing how I've never seen Bok's stats really be too far off...

There'd just have to be another giant :dump: for the cows to make it closer to 10 days. :)

At the current pace I'd pin it around 8 days to go but a few members still may have offline nodes (like Fozzie) that he can bring a good dump over for us to make it shorter.

Who knows but :umm: we'll just keep :beep: along.

Woot 15P, NICE...
Don't ya just hate when an unsupervised node randomly crashes for no reason... me thinking power blip did it, locked out my router as well but not the other 2 pc's on the same circuit - weirdness, I've no Idea how long the fecker's been down but hmm Im sure I can work it out I mean how big a hole will the loss of my XP2600+ proc be, given i got a XP2400+ on it 24/7 (now restarting it every few days - Thanks Fozzie nice tip) and my main rig XP3200+ (thank you HvS) which runs when Im not using it for Full Screen Gaming.

Yes well some of us have pulled many cores off this to answer the rally call for OGR-25.

Fozzie
10-13-2008, 04:17 AM
to SoB now that OGR is a lost cause.

Should have 1 dual Nocona Xeon, 2 dual core Xeons and 1 dual Core on it by the end of the day.

Switching some cores back to SoB well SoB / OGR-25 shared kinda maybe..
