Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond is in a critical condition in hospital after a crash in a jet-powered car while filming for the programme.

yup, lots of conflicting reports. From being in a coma to walking to the ambulance.

Fire service report says crashed at 280mph.

think it's on SKY TV too

hope he's ok :(

If anyones interested a collection has been set up in aid of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity here (http://www.justgiving.com/PHRichardHammond?page=1) .

Its up to nearly £19,000 already :eek: so some good will come out of this unfortunate accident.

Now at £21,720 and there are only a few BIG donations in there, maybe a dozen biggish but all are like £20 or less... I mean £2,500 in less than an hour :eek:

if you do make a donation (i did) make one to the air ambulance in your area too (i did).

Don't forget your own one, you may need it!!

I remember when I had my car accident I was told that our air ambulance only flew an certain days and if I had had my accident on a Wednesday instead of a Tuesday it would have been called for me. Worth remembering if you plan in having an accident in East Suffolk :D .

< Back on topic > Its good to see that a positive can come out such a negative. From what I hear they are going to put the money too a second helicopter :)

That will be like the 3rd change of amount,
1st it was 25K then 51K now it's probably some really large amount I think I heard some where that someone donated 5K themselves..

Richard Hammond will make a full recovery but could be out of action for over a year.
