If you thought that Team Stir Fry was getting a bit, well, pushy, just wait for the trickle-down effects from today's major pimpage (http://www.arstechnica.com/) over at Ars.

More crunchers in the project is great, but we're gonna get swamped!

Hey ColinT, do ya think Caesar would grant us equal time? :jester:

I'll try to add some more horsepower to the fold this afternoon, depending on how things go at work as the day goes on. :)

Caesar wouldn't know me from Adam. My three WarBirds are flying high now. I might toss in my old laptop.

My fleet is cranking along about as well as can be expected, considering two of 'em are in drydock. :( Bad timing!

Actually, considering that FoBoT and a couple of others are on vacay, we're at least presentable. MashRinx is really running great with that 2nd office-full of boxen.

It doesn't look like this stupid security audit is going to end anytime soon. I'll probably be back at university by the time it does, but I have purchased a new box which seems to be crunching along nicely. Maybe even enough to scare Angus into increasing his output. :)

I've had an XP1900 out of commission for the last four or five days, but it's back up now.

I'll try to take some time and check each of my other machines tonight...

Thanks Paratima.

Production will probably go down some as people leave for the weekend and shut some PCs down, but I was able to add quite a few boxen to the fold this week...

Now I just have to wait to get my new XP2200+ hardware that will become my "gaming" box, replacing the existing P3-1000. :) Should come soon!! Woohoo! :|party|:

I'm putting one of my boxes on it for the weekend, and then it will be back to SETI come Monday.

Woohoo! :|party|:

Got the AMD 2200+ / 512 MB running as my gaming rig yesterday. The P3-1000 that it replaces will go to my wife, so I won't loose that production either... Fold on!

Got the AMD 2200+ / 512 MB running as my gaming rig yesterday. Ultra cool! I also just got a 2200+ up & running on a MSI KT3 board. It's a Linux box and will be my main server at home. Gonna take me a couple of days to get it tuned up right with all those crazy bios options. It's already crankin' along...

I'll publish some numbers when I get it more where I want it, performance-wise. :D

/me glances over towards Paratima to see what he's up to ;)
Nice toy! :D
You're not going to make me go out and buy another Dual are you? :jester:
That would almost put me right up there with Dyyryath! :scared:
, and you know he wouldn't like that.

Hey, Ironbits. All that I can say, dripping with sarcasm and with the irony turned ALL the way up, is...

Fuggetaboutit! I'm chokin' on the dust now!!

You got too many ponies for me. :( For now, anyway. Soon as I get this board tuned up, I'm gonna take stock & see what's what. Maybe look into these duallies you guys are all nuts about. Or maybe just plain nuts!

Well unless one of my Servers, which started rebooting from 'bug checks' 4-6 times per day, starts playing nice, I'm gonna yank and drag that EPOX POS to the trash and send the 1.2 AMD proc to my niece.
This is the 3rd one in less than a year. Of those, one of them destroyed two 1.4 AMD procs. before the board did a melt down.
I've tried 5 different memory configurations, brands, amount of etc., EIDE or SCSI, even different video cards hasn't changed a thing.
I might try redoing the thermal grease on the processor. I've seen where it has vaporized some or became dried out. I use Artic Silver II...
Everything has been replaced but the motherboard now. :(
I'm building a new Server out of one of the Duals, from scratch to prepare for the swap out soon.
You're doing a great job Paratima! :D
Never give up...

The words ain't even in my vocabulary. :D I'm just taking my time on putting together new systems.

I definitely subscribe to the "newer/faster is better, do more with fewer boxen" theory of DC. My "den" sounds like it's gonna take off any minute with all the fans I got going. And it might! :p So I'm pretty picky about what I build.

Which board(s) are you happy with for duallie setup? And do you use real MP's or jumpered XP's? Give me a little guidance here.

Hmm. Maybe we oughta move this to the hardware forum.

Tyan S2460 and a pair of XP1900s is what I use.
ECC Registered DDR PC2100 is recommended.
I used a stick of Kingston Value Ram DDR PC2100 unbuffered, and it also worked fine.
I've been warned about not using two sticks, I'll find out over the week-end, as I have a 512mb stick of ECC Reg. for the new Server, coming today or tomorrow, so I'll put the two ECC Reg. DDRs in the other Dual. I'll let ya know. ;)
Do not have to mod the XP processors with this mobo. :D

Thanks, IB! Some good stuff to think about.

Once again, I'm forced to take back half the bad things I've said about you. :p

Ok, I like duals........
Got Tyan 2466, 2 XP1800, 512 Mb Samsung 2700 unregistered RAM, ++++ and MSI K7D-L, 2 MP1900, 512 MB Micron unregistered RAM, +++++
Wonderful boxes.

But singles are better crunchers in DF (didn't notice this with G@H).

I think I'll build another one soon (maybe watercooled)

The S2466 doesn't have any problem running XP's in MP mode? Is it an mpx board?

If it's MPX, I thought MPX would only run MP's in dual mode

Chinasaur: It's MPX and they run fine. The processors are not locked. I think this trouble came when AMD started to cut the L5 bridges on the newer XP's.
