While collecting tidbits from this forum (and others dealing with DF) to add to the FAQ at www.teamstirfry.com I have attempted a basic summary of platform performance comparisons and some assorted guesses as to client performance demands.
I am not an electrical engineer, nor am I coder. The benchmark submissions are somewhat limited, so I have a limited amount of data to use in my attempts at analysis. The data I do have is nothing that would hold up to serious scientific study. So, what I am saying is that the analysis I have made is very rough and might well contain some inaccuracies and perhaps even some outright errors.
If anyone wants to take a look at it and offer corrections, point out errors, or provide a superior summary to replace it with, I will be grateful (and will credit the submission on the page to whoever submits it).
Most of this is performance speculation is simply meant to give people a general idea of the client performance and demands. Highly technical analysis is always appreciated (and interesting) but shouldn't be mandatory for these purposes.

Is a direct link to the FAQ entry on the relative performance of various mainstream CPUs. The entry below it deals with L2 cache.

Is the link to the top of the menu if someone happens to want them all (it links within the document, so it shouldn't be hard to scroll up or down to find other entries anyways).
