First Gen iPod Shuffle

My daughters shuffle just stopped putting sound out of the left channel. It works if we mvoe the jack around in the plug, but this is obviously a sub-optimal solution. Anyone know of a way to fix this? I first thought that there may be some dust causing interference, so I wiped the plug down with some rubbing alcohol. I've tried tapping it, etc. Apparently, it's not related to dust.

Suggestions welcome.

You would have to go internal
sound like the contact points of the jack got bent enough to stop making contact with the plug
Tate a safety pin and bend it back.

The hard part is getting the case open:bang:
