11 active crunchers is not going to be enough to overhaul DPC.

So if you fancy a scrap then swing your boxen onto DPAD.

Fraid I'm down and out till friday. There was a 1 hour power outage at home today so most everything is down, including my DNS server.. I'm out of town until friday night :(

Some of the windows boxen may be running still without being able to connect, so they will dump when I get home friday and fix the DNS server.. I'd get the wife to start it up but it onvolves shorting out the pins with a screwdriver to start it :jester: Don't think I'll be getting her to do that...

What kind of crazy setup do you have that you need to short pins to start up a server?

Does running more than one client on HT or Core 2 increase output?

Fozzie

it should detect all logical processors as it starts.

My dual HT Xeon says 4 logical at start up.

OK went to Fry's to get a X2=4400 combo they had for $98.00
Only to find the CPU was OME no fan :swear:
Now I have to waste my time looking for a HS:swear:
I will get it online tonight to help with our totals:thumbs:

New machine coming online Monday. I'll throw it on DPAD to help.

Apple dual quad core xeon 3.0ghz.

Let's see what kind of numbers it can put up.

Will this combo was the one that tipped the scale
Since I got it online 2 days ago I have tripped the 2 30 Amp circuit 3 times and lost well over a 1/2 days production

So I Have reached my electrical limit here, and will have to back off my production at this location to keep from having total shut down

I put a AMP meter on the lines to the computer room Each line is drawing 34.2 & 31.6 amps:rock: OUCH
The load is all ready at or over it's tripping point

I forget the load rating of 10 Gage wire Does any one Know what it is for 10 Gage wire & 8 Gage wire ?
Well I am Off to Buy a 40 AMP breaker

:bang: guess I will have to run another service to the garage:rock:

Boot Camp doesn't work as seamlessly as advertised. Finally have it working but had to switch the mac keyboard to a windows one. Might be up and running tonight sometime.

I have a 2x quad core (xeon 5355) up and running also... should be in the shop for a few weeks... seems to be doing well.. only issue i see is when dpad gets down to > ~500 particles cpu usages drops to > 50%... i'v started 2 instances of dpad to combat this but does anyone know why this happens?

Thanks,
Ryan

I guess you nou need to run 4 instances to get 100%

I'm noticing that DPAD is only using 60-80% of the cpu power. I have tried to run multiple clients but they randomly shutdown. Is this normal?

PCZ
04-27-2007, 09:00 PM
Yes does happen some times with multiple clients.
Not on all PC's though.

If i get a PC that regularly dumps one of the clients i revert back to one instance with threads set to auto.

I assume that when running multiple clients you are setting the threads to 1 ?

BTW
You do get quite a bit more output with one client per core.

Jkusuda

It has happened several times today. I did try to set it to 1 instance and ran 8 clients. 7 of the clients dumped.

Are you running them all from 1 DPAD folder? Or from 4 different DPAD folders

Jkusuda
04-28-2007, 11:16 AM
I ran it from 1 folder. Do I need to set it up in different folders?

PCZ
04-28-2007, 05:10 PM
Yes
They all need seperate folders.

Make multiple copies of one of your muon directories.
To avoid duplicate results, delete results.txt and results.dat from the copied directories.
Call them muon1, muon2 etc.

I bet it works better Now:thumbs:
The way you phrased it I thought you were running from 1 Dir.:hifi:

Full power of the Macbeast unleashed. 8 clients in 8 different directories now running. CPU usage is up to 100%. I'm thinking the machine should be capable of at least 100k in pts.

Bok

It will certainly be interesting to see what kind of output the machine gives. Is this a personal or a work machine ?

The Dbl,40 amp seems to work well, No blows for the past week. I will try to add a few more X2;s to the load to see what happens
