Here's another simple way to install llrnet on 2, 4 and 8 cores machine.
The default server is on port 5000 but you also have work on port 400 and little work on port 7500 (almost drying). To change the port just edit llr-clientconfig.txt for all cores and look for the server location. Another thing you have to edit is your nickname, please look for the line username = "TeamName_nickname".

llr-clientconfig.txt content:
--
-- LLRNet - network part of LLR
--
-- (C) 2004-2005 Vincent Penne
--
-- Released under GNU LIBRARY GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE
-- (See file LICENSE that must be included with this software)
--
-- CLIENT CONFIGURATION FILE
--
-- WARNING: comments start with two dashes

-- server location
server = "nplb.ironbits.net"
port = 5000

-- username
username = "nickname"

Extract the zip, for 2 and 4, versions and unrar for the 8 version. To run the client you just need to run llrnet.exe respectively for each core.

Links to download:

http://em99010pepe.googlepages.com/llrnet_4_NPLB_win.zip (Quad-core windows)
http://em99010pepe.googlepages.com/llrnet_8_NPLB_win.part1.rar (Octo part 1 windows)
http://em99010pepe.googlepages.com/llrnet_8_NPLB_win.part2.rar (Octo part 2 windows)

All clients will run in the system tray. If you right click on the icon and if you choose "New GUI Window" you will get remotely control of all cores and see their progress.

Hope this helps a bit.

I'll try to convince IronBits or Max to build a similar version for linux users.
I'm also hosting a llrnet server to help the Project, IronBits host the others.

server = "nplb.dynip.telepac.pt"
port = 443

The first goal of the project is to take 300<k<1000 up to n=600k by the end of the year. The progress is like n~540k. Still 820,000 candidates to test.

Here's an interesting map. For 300<k<1000 we are trying to find primes until n=600,000, so we still have something like 820,000 candidates to test. By looking at the following map you can see we still have a small gap to fill. HELP NEEDED.

The greatness of Free-DC is the ability to help small projects, that's what I usually do. Sometimes 4 or 6 dedicated cores make a huge difference on the progress of a small project.

Free-DC members IronBits and tnerual are doing a great job on Drive 3 (default server settings of the files in post 1). At this pace we will finish drive 3 in less than 60 days.

Due to the new stats it is better take the TeamName out of the username. So where you have username = "TeamName_nickname" it should be like username = "nickname". Thanks.

Can someone post the correct link?

See 2nd message in this thread :)
http://www.free-dc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=17561

There is a quad, octo core setup for windows and a single core for linux.

Thanks IronBits.

I think I have it running correctly now. I'll check the stats later to see.

Edit: OK I'm in the stats but how do I assign my Team name as AMD Users.

We'll take care of that for you now that I know that's the team you want to be on :)

Done. It will show up next stats update (sometime around 20 minutes after any hour)

Don't forget to send me your email address so that we can put you into the auto-notify function so when you find a prime, you will be emailed. :)

If we can identify the following individuals, some on teams, so we can get their email address in a PM to me, I can get the database completed.
a - in the team column means you are not listed on a team.
