I was just wondering if there's a simple way to tell what protein my computers are crunching? I know we can use dfGUI to see the size of the protein, but is there a way to do it without using that program.

Err... look at the "calculating residue" line? It will say, for example, Calculating residue 86/129. That means you're crunching on a 129-AA protein.

If you're running in quiet mode, then you might try running in non-quiet mode once, just to see.

Otherwise, you can probably look at the size and date of the protein.trj file. Mine (the current protein) is dated 10/16/2002, 12:28 pm. The size is 6,378,463 bytes.

I think he means what is the protein not the size of the protein. 129AA is a nomer for the protein... its not a real name.

It was in the e-mail sent out notifying people that a new protein was going to be ready but I already killed that message. =/

Oh, OK.

There used to be descriptions somewhere on www.distributedfolding.org -- either under News, or somewhere else. But I can't find anything for this protein, so yeah.
