I've got a little over a dozen sunos/solaris machines available to me (some with several cpus). If someone writes a client for them, i'll see if i can run it on them :)

shifted: the client is only supported on x86 CPUs because the code used for primality testing is so heavily optimized for x86 CPUs that using other types of code for it is massively slow in comparison.

PRP only supports x86 CPUs, I think. There is some other program that works across platforms but it is significantly slower (I think I saw the prof mention something like 30% slower, atleast in regards to a potential mac port). :(

mad-ness: you are correct, expect i didn't say it was 30% slower... it's 30X slower! one month to do a day's worth of work. :(

But i do think there is a GIMPS client for the solaris which should perform reasonable compared to prime95

I know Ernst and I have run mlucas for a long time... It does pretty good on my old Ultra 1...
