View Full Version : Where are my workunits?

Ok, like the title suggest, I have been constantly losing workunits left and right, well not really left and right, but you guys still get the picture, right? :swear:

Anyway, I just flushed 4088 workunits in one go, using the .515 client and what I got from the "Total Units Completed" section was way off.

All in all, I lost about 35 workunits. Guys, I know that the lost workunits is not alot but that is besides the point. During the other versions of the NEO client, we had a higher workunit lost percentage and the .515 client is already a very good client.

But what if one of the 35 workunits had the 'winning' number in it? I know it is a very very very very very very remote chance that anyone would get the number but its still a chance.

Blah.... probably I am just pissed off because those valuable 35 workunits could make me stay at No. 2 just a little longer. :bang: Not worth to get too upset about. But then again, looking at IB's big, round, pink... :moon: would be just too much for me....

:scared:

I guess you could check the offline.dat files with the npa (Neo Packet Analyser) utility, this should tell you if there are any winning packets in the dat file...

You can also resend the dat file if you have a copy and it usually picks up the extra packets. I've also noticed that some packets are information packets as well...

The biggest lose I suffered was when I had a few thousand in a dat file and it just sent 30 odd, tried re-sending but it didn't help just churned for ages... I think this was due to me upgrading the client to the next version without starting a new offline.dat file so neo gets confused with it...

But sending is so much faster and better these days we can't really complain

I still wanna complain.

The NEO client just ate my 3000+ workunit data file. It was sending nicely until it lost connection with the server and then poof, the client just said in the Action box "Cleaning Up and Disconnecting...".

Where the hell was my workunits. It did not show up anywhere and it just dissapear! I am soooooo pissed off. :swear:

bah - you're just pissed cause I'm on your tail ;) :jester:
:swear: You would think they would have that problem fixed by now. These are the sort of things that keep people from running it. Why waste CPU time on a project that dumps your work? :bang:

That's pretty strange, I've been uploading 2-4k WU's at a time at home and I've never lost the offline.dat file. Sometimes I'll come like 10 WU's short, but nothing like that!

Wishfull thinking I guess. People are using sockscap32 to enable their neo clients to communicate with the neo server. Mike seems to have selective hearing when people as about proxy support now-a-days....stress getting to him yet? :rotfl:

Sure would be nice to see. I would think that he would have it out the door very soon though, now that he has the packet/crashing problems resolved. He'll be able to focus his time on the proxy client. Maybe we'll be lucky and he'll have it ready before the end of the week.

What I would really love to see is a client that DOES NOT lose workunits.

That will be just enough for me.

I tend to blow a top if my numbers don't match up with those from the server.:spank:

But true to what IB has said, its because of this MAIN problem that is hampering many people from joining this project. :moon:

OK, I am now posting on this thread again because I am losing more and more workunits. I really thought that .515 would help but I have been losing alot these few days.

Could it be the server? Or the pipe? Or just the software?

I am really getting impatient with this project.... Someone please calm me down....:help:

P4 1.7
Dual PIII 866

In the list today I've got

1 A1S1W8T9J1 INTEL PENTIUM III COPPERMINE [C0] 797 MHZ 1.0.515
2 J3W6T9S6O7 INTEL PENTIUM 4 "WILLAMETTE" 1696MHZ
3 P3T2P2D5I2 INTEL PENTIUM III "COPPERMINE" 866MHZ 1.0.510
4 V3E4P5A2S1 INTEL PENTIUM III COPPERMINE [C0] 996 MHZ 1.0.515
5 W7H7B2C2V3 INTEL PENTIUM II DESCHUTES [DA1] 348 MHZ 1.0.513

Packet loss is virtually non existent these days uploaded 4.5K units last night without any problems...

As I posted before I had lost workunits if I upload an offline.dat file from a different version of the client, PY 222 worth a check to make sure all your clients are on the same build, HTH
