SETI Stats for Free-DC

[Darkness Productions]

I have created some stats for the Free-DC SETI team. They are currently available at http://gms8994.dyndns.org/stats/seti/freeDC.htm

The data is pulled at 11:00am EST everyday, and the pages are generated at 12:00 (NOON) EST everyday. They are still being worked on, but if you have any suggestions for them, please, post them here, or email them to me. Email is in the profile.

Well, I managed to screw up my Linux box pretty good while being drunk... So the stats are now offline until I can figure out how they worked :( (and get the box rebuilt).

Actually, they are back, and getting better by the day!

http://gms8994.dyndns.org/stats/seti/ is the URL, and they update at approximately 12:00 EST everyday, and now they actually work!

Let me know if there is anything you all want to add, and I will see what I can do.

I have a few suggestions...

As some of us use stashing/caching programs... we are releasing WUs each day.. or not many.. so maybe 2 more columns..
one for Weekly total, and Monthly Total ?

and maybe a ranking for output.. although i guess with what we have thats redundant..

Not a problem. These stats are for you all as much as for me. I will see what I can do about the weekly and monthly information. Let me know of anything else you would like to see. Also, can I get a suggestion on some colors? Black on white is functional, but not very pretty.

mr_mann: Because the stats oinly update once per day, and you joined just after the January 5th update, you wouldn't show up until the January 6th update. You are there now, so let me know if you have any other problems.

so people can check their own stats and stuff :D

um... shouldn't the weekly column be displaying atleast todays totals if not the sum or the previous days and today ??

Please note, if your 'Weeks WUs' column says 0, and you know that you've done more than that many WUs in the past week, it may just be because you are a new member to the Free-DC SETI@Home team

so that means its only going to be updated once a week ?
I had something slightly different in mine..but kewl, mine was like a running total for that week.. so u could see what had upload in the last 7days like.... but i wasn't very clear on that..

i like the stats alot need to include some images and
stuff :D

No, that won't update weekly, it (currently) will just take a week before you have the correct data that is needed to give those values. I thought about using todays WU count, but I thought that might be even more confusing than just 0 :D

I plan to have some images (at some point). But I want to get the actual stats running the way that people want them before any prettifying is done. In other words, I want functionality first :D

Still here, just trying to figure out good ways to do personal stats. I'm pretty close to a good way, just gotta work out some stuff :D Hopefully soon tho!

On your stats page what does the "Average WU" column represent.:confused:

The Average WU column is (approximately) the average number of WUs that you've done over the past 7 days, or how many days you've been part of the team, whichever is smaller....

Well, all I can say is that for someone like you, who has more than 7 days of data, it pulls todays data, and the data from 7 days ago. It subtracts the WUcounts, which gives the number that's been done (total) in the past 7 days. Then, it simply divides by 7. That's pretty much it. I've noticed that it's not always exact, and I'm going to look into better ways to do that :D

So by your calculations if someone crunches 90 to 100 units per week thier weekly average should be about 5 and not say around 13.5.:rolleyes:

Well, apparently, my brain is using one of those pentiums that had the adding problem :D

I was trying to get the date from 7 days ago (which isn't necessary) instead of just setting the daycount to 7.... I hate that :D

Ok. The numbers are finally right! Also, in case you've been under a rock (or just haven't looked at the stats lately, I've decided to make my stats look a little more like zAmboni's stats. I like the way he does them, so I figured I'd make them nice and pretty like his. The rest of the numbers (the past 7 day's rank) should all work themselves out in time. Just thought I'd stop in and say hey!

Also just noticed... when the format changed and the colours.. we lost the totals at the bottom :( I know some arent so relvant.. but some of them were.. so we could see avg and todays unit output.. stuff like that.

I will make sure that those get put back in by the Wednesday update. Got lots of classes tomorrow, and work is always beckoning, so I hope they get put back in right :D

Apparetly, something borked, and the html Generator didn't run... I have no log info or anything, so I'm stumped... I've since fixed it, but I'm unsure as to the reason behind the problem...

my stats were always F'ed up! Everyone else's were right on the money. that's why i quit.

i'm in this as much or more for the competition as i am for contacting et.

the guy ahead of me had 6 less units for the week, but had a higher average wu/day. hmmm...

since when does 29 units average 3.17 wu/day and 23 units average 3.33 wu/day?

i don't mean to sound bitter, but i may as well go with a group where i can run a single session of seti and do well.

this is a cool site! too bad it doesn't work with netscape. sure internet explorer is the standard, but i like the multiple profiles of netscape.

I got a couple of things left to do first, like totally redesign them... :D I've been fretting over some things lately, but those are gone now, so I should be able to actually start working on them soon!!! I will let you know as soon as they are done, shouldn't be after the end of next week tho (aka, I should be ready before then) :D

Agree 100%.

Okay the stats have not been 100%, but IB & DP are busy guys and cn not commit 100% (do I get a prize if I fit another "100%" in) of their time to our stats page.

hey guys,

having read my "i quit" post again, i can see that it appears
that i left in a petulant frenzy. this is not the case.

before joining free-dc, i was running a single session of seti
and kicking out 3 units a day. the competition in my group
was pretty much non existent.

when i first discovered the (free-dc) seti daily statistics site,
i decided that this is for me. it was pretty cool! i purchased
a couple of goliath/delta heat sinks, and started running
dual sessions of seti. all was well.

unfortunately, i got caught up in the competition. other tasks
got put on a lower priority (online courses).

when the seti daily stats got messed up, it was my wake up
call. i decided to forgo the competition and go back to my
original group until i complete my studies.

i think that ib and dp are doing a wonderful job of maintaining
the seti daily statistics site! great job guys!
