View Full Version : RC5-72 PProxy

Darkness Productions

My rc5-72 proxy is up an running at www.dp.cx:2064.

I would like to open it to all free-dc'ers. There are also stats at http://stats.dp.cx/rc5-72.

Granted, not all of the links work properly, since they switched the way the stuff workes on the d.net servers, but the stats should suffice.

I thought I read pproxy was still in Beta, and the work units came from a beta server that is not incorporated into the real deal?
Otherwise, Coolness!
I'll hang out there once all the bugs get worked out
Thanks DP!

Darkness Productions

It sure seems to be counting my results. I think they've changed where it was coming from a beta server and it's coming from a real-live keyserver now.

Ok, I've parked one computer there for the time being :D
[Dec 28 23:35:38 UTC] Connected to www.dp.cx:2064...
[Dec 28 23:35:39 UTC] The perproxy says: "rc5 Personal Proxy!"
[Dec 28 23:35:39 UTC] Retrieved project state data from server. (cached)
[Dec 28 23:35:40 UTC] RC5-72: Retrieved stats unit 15 of 15 (100.00%)
[Dec 28 23:35:40 UTC] Connection closed.
Looking good!

How often do you update your pproxy stats?
guru likes it to run every hour... ;)

IronBits
12-28-2002, 08:04 PM
ok, ok... I put more than ONE on there :p :D
:moon: Catch me if you can :jester:

Darkness Productions

Currently, I have it set to run every 5 minutes, on the 2s and 7s. If it becomes too much of a hassle for the script, I'll back it off to every 10 minutes, on the 7s, and then to 20, and to 30. If it neds to go past that, then I've got a good number of people on there anyway ;) and it will probably go straight to 1hr. Please let me know if the updates don't seem to happen on time.

Currently, it takes about:

perproxy@gigabyte6bxd:~/ppstats-png/ppstats-rc5-7.1-png$ time ./ppstats-rc5-7.1.pl

real 0m0.787s
user 0m0.580s
sys 0m0.100s

We'll see.

Great idea, DP, thanks! That finally motivated me to switch from DF to rc5 ...

I have always liked the dnet client - any chance of getting a 'common' port opened to the pproxy, like 80 or 23? The firewall at work won't like 2064 .....

pproxy seems to be offline at the moment... :(

Darkness Productions
12-29-2002, 08:30 PM
I had a "minor" glitch in my systems... aka, the UPS switched to battery while I was gone. All the machines shi^Hut themselves down, so the pproxy was down for a while. It should be back up now, so lets just hope it stays that way. If it goes down again, APC is gonna get a call.

Glen

80 is already taken by apache. 23 is opened to ftp already. I have 443 open for a friend for ssh. Anything else you can suggest?

It seems I've fixed the stats. When d.net switched to -72, some of the numbers changed. I check the ppstats site, and they had the same conclusion. I've made the change, so now the numbers (keys/sec, etc) should be correct. Let me know if they aren't.

Darkness Productions

Maybe 8080? I can setup the pproxy to listen there as well, and you could try it out. LMK.

Hey DP, question for ya...
Why is it the block count on your pproxy is so much different than the official block count? I seem to be losing alot of blocks...
Can you look into this and see if you can figure something out please? Thanks.

Thats a really good question. I'll look into it immediately.

a question to dp:

is your personal proxy still online? i've just noticed that my clients buffered the workunits, because they couldn't push it to your proxy. (and that's the reason why i pushed just about 100 blocks last day instead of about 150 to 170...)

the latest seen on your stats was phil.harling about 25 hours ago...

did you stop the proxy or is there another problem and will you fix it?

thanks

the-mk
01-29-2003, 04:19 PM
hmm, now your rc5-proxy seems to work. thanks!

at about 19:20 GMT my all my clients were able to flush all the crunshed workunits to your server.

and your stats are correct now (my account was last seen some minutes ago, instead of some hours ago, where i was last seen about 26 hours ago :D )

what was the problem?

thanks anyways!

The box rebooted (power switch because of a bad UPS), and there's not a boot script for it. I just forgot to start it back up :P

DP: Any chance of an OGR proxy? There are a small handful of active users on it (I'm considering starting up again too).

Darkness Productions
01-31-2003, 09:55 AM
It's there. Same port and everything. I'll have to look to see if the stats are updating, but you should be able to fetch blocks from it.

Yeah, I noticed when I accidentally fetched/flushed some OGR work, but stats.dp.cx/ogr shows stats for Ars that don't seem to change (or be >0).

On the team history graph for OGR, the Y axis is labelled "Rate (kkeys/sec)". Shouldn't that be Mnodes/sec or something? Doesn't really matter, just caught my eye :)

Darkness Productions
02-04-2003, 09:15 AM
Well, if I knew where/how that image was created, I might be able to fix it. I'll look some more today...

Are you talking to me?

If yes, then tell me the link to the official ecc2-stats, tell me how often and when they are updated and I'll look what I can do... (I could need some increase of my keycount at project orca :D)

If no, just ignore that post :D

I see that there are only 2 people of 6 active, so I think it doesn't make any sense to create some stats...

If they want some stats made by the-mk they shall post or pm me, but first read the line above

I was...

Darkness Productions was looking for someone to host the ECC2 stats that he has already done. There's a thread on the ECC2 section.

I thought you might be able to host these as well...

But like you said it's not the most popular Free-dc project at the moment..
