New Project based at Cambridge University in England

http://cah.tcm.phy.cam.ac.uk/ (http://cah.tcm.phy.cam.ac.uk/index.php)

Registration is open for about 2000 users initially. Stats are available and I've added (http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page=proj&proj=qfi) them already though the xml files are actually empty right now :)

Project Administrator seems pretty responsive so far, fixing up a number of the usual issues very quickly.

I have a few wu's running right now, initial estimates are around 24hours per wu..

I turned up the heat on this one this morning. I like the long running WUs with small downloads. It makes a lot of difference on my network. The credit is fairly good too.

Let's just nobody comes along with a garage full of boxes to break it.:D

:umm:Sad but true :hair: Yes if it is a new project I have to log onto each node (60+)
and attach each node to the project :trash:
And with my life I only have little chunks of time to do tasks here so it adds up

Well, unfortunately today is the start of my summer slow down. I walked into the shop this morning and it was 36 degrees celcius(97f).:bang: I don't want to have setup the air conditioners yet. So almost all of my CPU processing will stop for the summer. Hopefully it won't get to the point that I have to start shutting down GPUs. Ok lauren here is your chance to catch up.

The Power supply is the weakest link :bang:

The trick to working in 85 + temp is lots of air movement
I exhaust close to 3000 cubic feet per min.
At that rate I replace all the air in the entire Garage every 2.5 min
50 Nodes stacked on Racks in a 8X8X8 room produces a LOT of heat :firedevil:

vaughan

The trick to working in 85 + temp is lots of air movement

The side effect of that is the fans make lots of white noise so you cannot work in the same room as all the computers. I got a 6.8KW air conditioner installed in my server room and it brought the temps from a max of 40C to the current setting of 24C. I can go lower but don't want to max out the air con.

Bring on Winter :D

LAURENU2
03-26-2010, 09:36 PM
Well your right about the noise But thats why I Don't live in my Garage:lmao:
And another thing you must consider is the EM field produced by that many power supply's
It wipes out my van radio from 30 feet away
It can Not be good for you to work or live in a EM Field :hair: makes your hair fall out :lmao:
Hopefully I to will get AC by the time real Hot temps come
