Being a regular of one of your forums (Distributed Folding), I like how your forums are set up. Do you know anyone that is willing to host for free a similarly set up forum for a non-distributed-computing project? I've toyed with the Oceania project (http://oceania.org/ ... though this specific attempt is over, others are in the works) over the years and think that if it had a nicely set up forum as these, it might possibly get somewhere. Can someone give me a lead to such a forum host? Ideally one that has a spellchecker built into theirs. Thanks!

if you need a spell checker try this:

http://www.iespell.com

it works great for forums and email also

and it helps when you are posting about how fast you climbing the stats every five minutes :rotfl:

edited to fix link (IronBits)

When clicking on your link, it didn't work.

Also, I'm looking to start up a forum that isn't about a dc project. I checked www.ezboard.com, but their free version has lots of annoying pop-up ads. Wouldn't mind the sponsor have banner ads, but pop-up ads turn too many people off.

Supp, Thanks. I'll look into that.

Anarchy, Thanks. Not exactly what I'm looking for, but nevertheless something that looks interesting. Any problems using it?

none so far

I know it isn't exactly what you want, a better setup would be as you suggested, built in to the forum.

but this is a great little tool, I have win2k pro and IE6 it works great for me

if I find a spell checker that fits your needs I will let you know, right after I post about how I am climbing the stats like a hallucinogenic love drug crazed hippie just back from the sixties love fest at ashbury park WOW :rotfl:

Supp,

From reading the literature on the ikonboard's website, am I correct that I'll still need to host the forum I create with their software? I'm looking for a forum where it's free ... or free if you let them run banner ads on your forum.
