I run mostly IE6 on windows 2000 pro. What if anything should I do with Java? I know there are other VM's to download from Sun. Should I upgrade to the latest VM for web browsing or is the standard IE6/win2000 Java support sufficient? I saw this stuff in the Ubero forum and wondered if this would help with regular internet stuff like Dyyryath's java happy web site's. :D

the VM in windows/IE 6 is pertty much optimized solely for web browsing. I have replaced mine with the IBM and the Sun JRE and noticed it was slower loading applets and such. maybe it's just a perceptive slowdown (ie it may not acutally be slower, just look like it is)

we change the JRE's for Ubero becasue while the 'standard' vm is good for browsing, it is not optimized for crunching numbers. the IBM JRE still seems to be the leader when it comes to that.

You do not need to replace your IE6 VM to install another JRE for Ubero. in fact I had 3 different JRE's installled simultainously without problems.
