I need a little help:

I can't connect to my network using my SuSe Linux 7.2.
It recognizes NIC, installs drivers, but when it tries to get IP from DHCP server (which works correctly - W9x and debian have no probs) it display message: unable to get ip from dhcp...should I try again (doesn't help)

irconfig eth0 gives usual report (hw address, metric...),
but in status report (running, broadcasting... it displays |notrailers")

Do we have any Linux guru here willing to help me?

BTW: when I ping DHCP server (192.168.0.1) it sometimes pings right and sometimes print error (checked cable - cable is all right); access to network via transparent proxy (working correctly) doesn't function (deb & w9x machines without problem)

did you try setting a static ip to see if it works that way?

Yes, static IP works for access to local network - but in order to access infernet I have to use DHCP

Supp,
What kernel and what NIC card are you using? I had that exact same problem under Slackware 8.0 using the 2.4.5 kernel with the Realtek 8139 NIC chipset. I updated to the 2.4.16 kernel and it took care of it.

<cough> realtek 8139 and kernel 2.4.4 </cough>
Changed kernel for newer and found realtek working correctly :D :D :D

Thank you SC&FBT
