I took a good running A7N8X ASUS board,
removed the good running xp2400 from it and cleared CMOS.

Put in a new xp2400, starts up for 3 sec and power goes off...
I have fans plugged into all power connectors...
Tried another xp2400... same thing.
Tried with two different xp2600 procs, same problem.
Put the original one back in, clear CMOS again, same problem again :swear:
It just powers on for 3 seconds then shuts off...
The only thing I changed was the cpu's...
What is going on? I can't even get into CMOS :bang:
I've seen this behaviour before, but don't remember what it takes to get past this BS.
Clues anyone?

Thanks rus6, I put on a plain vanilla AMD approved fan on the header and it came right up.
What does one do when the FOC header goes dead?
Are there ways to force it to default to ignore that POS?
That way when you reset the CMOS, you won't be dead in the water if that fan header is dead,
or, you don't use it because your 7000 RPM fan would fry it...

The Fan Off Control can usally be skipped by a hot key, something like "insert" key, which stops the power off. Which would allow you to boot.

Or you can usually disable it in the bios (once you'ce skipped it of course)...

Certainly not my strongest topic this, but if you use AMD approved kit, it all just seems to work nicely :D
