i am getting this Windows XP error when trying to start foldit.bat (or as a service)

scenario:
i setup 2 PC's to crunch offline while i was on vacation (9 days), both WinXP Pro SP1, 512MB , both AMD XP+ (one 1700, other 2100), both to run as a service, using service=1, useram=1, connect=0, progress=2

when i got back home, both had about 330 generations buffered , but when i try to upload (using foldit.bat) or restart the service (with connect=1 to send), i get the following windows error reporting window and foldtrajlite.exe crashes/quits

this is the message window and the contents of the appcompat.txt file from the error report for the 2100+

foldtrajlite.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.

it won't let me copy/paste the other info it displays about modules and stuff, if i need to post that somebody would have to tell me how

if howard wants one/both of these , i can .zip them up and send them, i can't upload these ~650 generations

gack!

same error on my work PC, Compaq Celeron 1.7Ghz 256MB running DF as a service WinXP Pro SP1

same error-same problem-337 generations buffered

Error Signature
szAppName : foldtrajlite.exe szAppVer : 0.0.0.0
szModName : foldtrajlite.exe szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset : 00003afe

BTW - the DF error.txt doesn't show any message and when it crashes out it leaves the .lock file and progress.txt file

FoBoT, did you update these boxen to Phase II before you left, or just leave them on their own? When I got back from a trip last week, of the 4 boxen I left on, only 1 had upgraded successfully. I have since manually updated those 4 and a couple more and am running OK except for the memory-leak problem.

i shutdown all phase I client manually before it ended. (windows clients anyway, i did let 5 linux boxen update from phase I to II, last time i checked them they were doing fine, i am going to change more of my boxen to linux until a new windows client is released)

these are all new install of phase II

i had a windows 2000 server box that i started the same time, same settings, etc . it DIDN'T crash

i am going to move one of the "Bad" folders to that box and try the upload, to see if it is something specific to XP/or those PC's maybe

**EDIT**

it isn't crashing on Windows 2000 Server, but, it isn't uploading either, it is just sitting there, doing nothing, the first line displayed ("Checking for newer versions...") and cpu usage of foldtrajlite.exe is 99% , but it isn't sending anything

hmmmmmmmm.........

I know it is all for a good cause, but it sure get frustrating to lose 300+ generations. I have one PC that I thought I turned off the "Disable Net Access", but found that it had buffered 337 generations, which now I am not able to upload.

read the other threads about the 337 generation bug, on one box i was able to "fix" it and get it uploaded, on 3 others i have not been successful
