Loaded Mandrake 8.2 beta4 (after much stress), it finally sees my onboard sound and LAN (Thanks sup), but it still fails to see the AMR 56k modem. Is thing similiar to a "Winmodem", meaning is it completely software driven?

I guess I need to go get a Zoom PCI modem to throw in this machine, definetly need to get a ATA100 drive that 6.5G is ata33 5400 and DAMN if thats nots slower than a dead turtle crossing the road.

Answers my own questions

The AMR modem is just like the winmodem. None of the AMR modem manufacturers make linux drivers for it, finally found a manufacturer site that compared it to a winmodem in technology.

So I guess it wont work!

Glad to see it helped. :) Exactly what kind of AMR modem r u using?
(model, manufacturer and MB type...)
I could look around for you even though I don't see much chance in this case.

Hey, if you still have that AMR win/soft/modem take a peek at linmodems.org (http://www.linmodems.org)
You might find your driver there
