Ars Technica's Team Stir Fry has really gotten serious over the last week. They've begun outproducing us in the dailies each day, which isn't good news at all. <br><br>Of course, things aren't over yet, not by a long shot. I've still got some machines to add, and I'm sure some of the other psychos in our group can find a few more, too. We've also seen some new faces around the forums lately that might be of use.<br><br>So, keep an eye <a href="http://stats.zerothelement.com/cgi-bin/distributed-folding/cd-graph-vs-team-custom.pl?teams=5&teams=78&data=LastUpdateStruct&time=1&points=30&title=Arachnid+Stats+-+Custom+Graph&xsize=1000&ysize=800&scale=MANUAL&maxScale=0&maxAbs=&minScale=0&minAbs=&type=LINE&transparency=0&dimension=0&lineWidth=4&submit=Create+My+Graph">the hourly production numbers</a> and let's see if we can't find some more machines to thow into the mix. <img src=http://www.free-dc.org/images/news/icon14.gif>

Must :bang: keep :bang: BLUE :bang: line :bang: :bonk:

Stop all this talk about 'got a few more to put on' and get busy and PUT them ON :D
Angus's Intel pharmage is mopping up the floor with your long hair. :jester:
He's also been talking SMACK about ya, then tossed on a new AMD 2GHz boxen for for good measure and THEN...
he did this :moon: ;) That would make me go RED

What has me really worried is, Eccp2 is almost over, and those Arsian minions will be looking for a new project to dominate. :scared:

I haven't seen Beyond around in a long time either

 Go Team Free-DC Go !!!
:notworthy

IB: When Ecc2 ends, from what I understand, alot of them are going to help with the TER ramp-up.

I'm going to try and snafu a few of them for UD. More will go to TPR-S||B and TPR-GIMPS.

A few might make it to TSF.

I'm going to do my part to make sure less TVM members make it to TSF!

Also, you should get to put a link onto the DF forums, with Help Team Free-DC. Have it open up a page with intructions on how to join the team... :Pokes:

Yep, that one, but put the link down at the bottom, where it has contact us & Free-dc.org right now.

Down at the very bottom of every page :)

Might get a couple of recruits...

Are you sure those Biostars will network boot?

(Actually, I think I'm just a day or two away from having that whole thing solved, anyway...)

Cheaper ram? Wouldn't I be more interested in even more expensive PC3200 ram, and doing some OC'ing?

Are the volcano's that much better at cooling? If I were going to run these stock, I'm sure the OEM fans would work, but *we* are planning to tweak these some, aren't we?

Stability should come first and only mild overclocking should be attempted.
Those Chips will have to run flat out 24hrs a day for weeks on end.
A farm quickly becomes a nightmare to keep running if you overclock the chips too much.
This was brought home to me in a big way during the recent heatwave in the UK.

OCing, naw, not with todays prices and speeds. If you wanted to do that, I would recommend XP1800s rev B, that would do 2.2+ GHz :)
Volcano 7s produce plenty of cooling, even with 97F ambient air, they have not crashed.
Mild overclocking, mostly using decent pc2100 can do 2/2/2 and I've read where there is not much of a difference using 2 vs 2.5 CAS timing.
Just buy em and run em... 2 GHz is a great boost for the price.

The Biostar boards are great farm boards. Stability wise they will run 24/7/365 and not miss a beat. I've used them for several years now without one single problem. Drop in a cheap PCI video card and off to the races you go.
