Anyone know? I just tried it but it doesn't appear to be working?

keycount.piqsoftware.com still down.

No news in the forum except one user question like "Any progress report on the new server bits ??"

Seems to be getting dead :swear:  :(

:dunno:
Day 17:
Server is still down.
I don't know if I posted the links to the forum with their "news", but here are the two active threads:
I shouldn't ask but... (http://www.piqsoftware.com/dev/forums/viewthread.asp?id=471)
Since the server is dead (http://www.piqsoftware.com/dev/forums/viewthread.asp?id=469), especially that (http://www.piqsoftware.com/dev/forums/viewthread.asp?id=469&page=1)

And some "old" news (8/6/2003) of their mainpage (http://www.piqsoftware.com/):

The TKC server is not functional yet. We would like to ask that all users refrain from inquiring about the status of the server from now on. It will be ready when it is ready.

- Apoch

So don't ask :D

Thoughts of an  user:

Philosohical questions: is that project dead now? will it ever revive? if it's really dead, what's going to be then? is there a life after TKC-dead? (OK, I'm too much of that :gone:)

I am missing those old days where I checked my stats and I saw that people were typing, clicking and scrolling and :dump: their results to the server. It's so boring without live in it :(

Hi,

Check out http://www.project-dolphin.nl/

I haven't tested it, I didn't even download ist (guess you don't even have to download it but just change the server-url in your "original" project dolphing (and now project orca) clients ...

Greets,
Wirthi

That www.project-dolphin.nl looks nice, but I think it isn't necessary to change.

I didn't register there nor I downloaded their client

Advantages:
+ real teams with real stats-sites (not like mine user-by-user-built stats :D)
+ looks like alive

Disadvantage:
- start keycounting from zero
- no click- and scrollcounter like at our good old TKC
- no web-API (just to build my own stats)

Advantages of Project Orca:
+ not starting from zero
+ a forum nobody of us uses

Disadvantages
- no real stats, just my user-by-user-built stats
- no news since, ... , I stopped counting the days :D
- new client promised but not released until yet
- no web-APIs :(

Is there anyone who wants to switch over to project-dolphin.nl? If some of us want to, I would switch too and build some stats, but if not I wont...

I wouldn't mind changeing if they had a unix/linux client. I only have windows installed on one box now

Another alive-message from the TinyKeyCounter-forum:

Posted by Apoch, the TKC-admin:
The new server will be more than capable of handling the loads. It may bog down for a few days while everyone catches up, but it will be perfectly fine after that. Besides, I'm sure plenty of people will be delaying their submissions anyways, so it should help spread out the load.

Seems like the new server is coming :bouncy: but nobody knows when :dunno:

Day 33:

Nothing new...

That project seems to be very dead :(

Only new things in their forum (http://www.piqsoftware.com/dev/forums/viewforum.asp?forumid=11) are questions about when the server could be back... but no definite answer :swear:

[my-inner-voice]
just wanted to keycount and clickcount and scrollcount
but now I can't because the server is down
:( :trash:

from the keycount.piqsoftware.com mainpage:

The Tiny KeyCounter service has been reanimated following the ultimate demise of the previous server and several weeks of reconstruction. TKC is now run on a brand new, top-of-the-line server, and we hope that this new hardware will greatly enhance the TKC experience.

All previous stats have been restored, although there may be some losses due to database inconsistencies. If you have any trouble please feel free to contact the TKC staff at keycount@piqsoftware.com. Portions of the TKC site may still report that the server is down for maintenance; if you receive this message please notify webmaster@piqsoftware.com immediately.

Thank you for your patience and support during the past few weeks, and thanks for continuing to use TKC.

seems to be back up!

I think I need to restart my TKC-Free-DC-dataspider :D
