Thanks to Darkness Production for letting me know there is a legal, optimized client for AMD processors, done by some folks over on www.StatsAholic.com !
I saw my client go from 950,000 up to 1.1 million per second! :D
I have put a link on our Free-DC ECCp homepage in case you missed it or would like to use it.

Here is what I did:
Download these files.
www.nd.edu/~cmonico/eccp109/downloads/eccp109-131g.exe
www.statsaholic.com/eccp/eccp109-130_win_k7.zip
Run the 1st one, so it gets installed.
It will ask for your name (handle - nickname) I guess
Email address (your email address)
Real Name (I used IB) not sure what this is for either...
Quit the client.
If you have a fulltime connection to the internet,
Edit eccp109.ini - change PERM_CONN=0 to PERM_CONN=1 and save it
Extract the file eccp109ws.exe to the \eccp directory
Extract the cygwin1.dll to \windows\system32 or \winnt\system32
Run the eccp109ws.exe instead of the original client
I then went to the ECCp site

scroll down to see the "Join this team"
Enter your email address, and sit back to wait for you stats to show up.
