OK, is my client supposed to be sitting idle 90% of the time?

In fact, yes. That's the reason why it's a great client to run while running other projects.

Appears they got the Server back online, I'm seeing activity again! :elephant:

If you check here (http://www.chessbrain.net/cbindex.html) and scroll down you will see when CB is playing a game. It isn't a matter of the server being down rather than there not being a game in progress. Depending on what CJ has on the schedule you will either see a lot or a little activity. (when a game is on you should see plusing between 2 and 5 min intervals)

Right now is a good time to run CB on all online DF boxen with the slow protien and a little cushin over ARS.

Check this graph from the chessbrain web site.
It shows if the supernode is active.
