Gaunlet w/ relic & his band

Hi,

relic challenged us in week long UD production gaunlet
(see here (http://www.free-dc.org/forum/showthread.php3?s=&threadid=46) )

Anybody willing to fight on our side plz report here

Gaunlet starts on 28.1.2002 and lasts one Week

Combined production of relic & his band is +- 15000pts/day (I may be wrong )

i am new to the gauntlet stuff, so perhaps you can fill me in on tactics?

i run 1 or two boxen on THINK normally

when do i add extra boxen, right before it starts? or right after? or it doesn't matter, just crunch as many THINK points as possible during that week?

You can count me in the gauntlet. I only have two machines on UD at the moment, with another three coming as soon as the cable guys get me re-connected at my new place.

I'd suggest that we pick a time and record where we all are.
(points or results..whichever you like)

At the end of the week we again record the totals subtract the original total and the biggest remainder wins.

I nominate Supp as the official scorekeeper. Is that OK?

Hey relic, can you post some guidelines and/or rules of how the Gauntlet will work?

I've been getting some questions on such things as:
Do we need to start with a new WU at the start?
Would it be fair to stop the WU from uploading until after it starts?

Rules to live by, for the gentlemen and ladies that want to participate :)

Let's make this a gentleman's (and lady's) gauntlet.
No need for overly strict rules. We'll just have fun.

Supp can pick a day (since the UD stats only update once a day) and record the "beginning scores" for all gauntleteers.

No need to start a new WU, just keep crunching along as usual. I wouldn't be able to get new WU's anyway...too may systems dispersed over too wide an area.

On the "end day" Supp can again record the scores, subtract the "beginning scores" and declare me the winner. ;)

I vote that we keep track of ALL the statistics for the week, CPU time, Points and Results. That way we can compete on diferent levels and let "slow" machines and "little guys" get some glory too.

If someone wants to hold a WU until the gauntlet starts that's fine with me. I don't have time to do that, but I see no reason why they shouldn't. It just leverages their technical knowledge for an advantage....aren't we trying to promote the spreading of DC knowledge anyway?

I'm taking on the whole free-dc team all by my lonesome. ;) Just me and the three sites I'm DC'ing with.

Supp hasn't posted any stats or yet but I know that on my "team"
is:

BSH (this is Amy)
Ken/API ( a friends site that I take care of)
relic[H] (this is me)
USWWL (another friends site)

But if Supp wants to add ya in, it's ok with me...or you could join the gauntlet against me....that'd be fun too.

After all it is "free DC"
