So I got to thinking about the deadwood in the stats... how about implementing this?
Any projects with last stats older than 3 months get moved to a new category Inactive
Anything older than 6 months automatically get moved to Retired
This should save time trying to monitor 100+ projects manually. If a project comes back to life, someone can always post a note on it.
Also, I just was thinking if users could submit new projects... Name, Project URL, Work URL, and decription. If there are stats found, the project will be put in a new category: Pending ... which it would stay until reviewed by you for inclusion with the Active projects. Have your system check 2 or 3 more times at increasing intervals, and if there are no stats still, then the project goes in a slush pile which people can see, but they are not part of the stats.
Of course, there might the odd project, but for most new projects it should work just fine...
