I was wondering how others are doing with the new protein. I've been running the text client for 6 hours and 30 minutes, and only produced 47000 structures on a Althon XP 1800@1.6GHz. Does this sound about right? I remember getting about the same times and structures with the last protein, and I thought this one would go faster.

I'm running Win98, 256MB, and I used the autoupdate feature to get this new protein.

Howard says

"Don't be deceived by the length of the protein, there are many complex factors which affect how long structure generation takes. Since this one is mostly helical, it generates more compact structures on average, which have more collisions, and thus more backtracking."

Ni!

I haven't done any benchmarking, but several of us have noticed that this small protein is not as fast as the last 36AA, so you're not alone.

I would say that depends on what team you are crunching for :D ;)

This new protein is not processing as fast as I thought it would either. It seems to be running about as fast as the larger one. I thought this would run faster to but apparently not. Later.
