first at all i want to say thanks for Mikael for this utility.
very useful and saves a lot of time....
very nice job!!

and just one little question.
how often sobistrator check SoBStatus.dat?

I need something like "auto submit factors" feature. so the factors found at night don't wait for my attention. checking for new factors every haf a hour and auto-submitting them will be useful.

Thanks.

Currently it only checks for new factors when you either start the program or click Refresh. I guess I could make an autorefresh and autosubmit without too much hassle though.

this will be appreciated.

you also need to make an option to mark or not factors as old at auto-submit.

Really? If you don't mark them as old sobistrator will send the same factors every n minutes -- probably not a good idea.

If you make these changes it would be nice if you wuld let the user turn the feature on or off. I personally like to submit factors manually so I can keep track of progress. I would not want factors submitted without my knowledge. I figure once a day is often enough, Right? Or is there something I don't know? Should the factors be submitted right away? Or can they wait and be submitted once a day?
Thanks

ofcourse it must be switchable. I don't asking for client that always auto-submit factors.

hope to hear from author soon.

Definitely an option.

erm..
that's my lack of language.
I mean that the "feature" means something not always working but something that you can turn on or off.
well now i see that option is right word for this.

PS when??

Soonish perhaps. Definitely when it's done.

Just to clarify my earlier post.

I do think it would be a very good feature to have.

It would be very useful when users go out of town or if they don't want to have to mess with submission all the time.

And when it's done is soon enough for me.

Definately not before it's done, that could be bad.

I think it'll work now, but I need a brave soul to actually try it.

Do YOU have what it takes?

http://n137.ryd.student.liu.se/sobistrator_120.zip

You can either disable automation altogether (default), just use automatic refresh, or go all the way and have sobistrator submit your factors automatically as well. The timer interval can be set to 1 or more minutes -- default is 1440 minutes, i e 24 hours. Use your sense.

There's also an option for turning off error messages. That might be useful if you're away from your sobistrator for extended periods of time and don't want it to display error messages and wait for acknowledgement from you.

Mikael

so early at the morning =)

i checked auto submit and auto refresh but don't turn on auto errors.
somebody take my IP at night so network connection was lost.
when i turn on monitor i see two windows - one with IP address conflict (another system take it) and another window from sobistrator says that factors can not be submitted.
but i don't see any new factors at fact.txt. maybe I miss some factors???
does sobistrator writes to fact.txt?

auto-refresh set to 6 minutes. and works. it works even when sobistrator is minimized to tray with Mini-XP utility. it add fourth button at right side of toolbar of any window and allow you minimize any app to tray.
sorry for crunchin such big range so new factors are very rare (1 so far at 18%)
maybe later I check some very low range just for sobistrator testing..

UPD: sobstatus.dat also haven't any factors so i believe that there no factors loss but something else.

sobistrator only writes stuff to sobistrator.ini. Proth_sieve writes factors to fact.txt, and progress updates to sobstatus.dat. Sobistrator reads factors from fact.txt (or whatever file you selected when you configured it).

Let me know how it goes.

BTW why don't just call it 1.21?

mklasson

trivial change, didn't feel like expending the extra energy to change "1.20" to "1.21" in a couple of places. :)
