I'd just like to go on record as saying that as of Feb 2004, SATA (Serial ATA) support in Linux leaves something to be desired.

It's not terrible, but it's not great, either. I've spent about 2 days learning everything I could about it and it's been quite painful. Now, however, I'm running my development box's root partition on two Samsung 160gb SATA drives in RAID 1 (software RAID) with the 2.6.3 kernel.

If anyone is thinking about buying SATA drives for use under Linux, I'd be happy to tell you what I've learned about them so far...

Do tell!
It might help me with my AMD64 and the new drivers I have to wait for or find. :bang:

That sucks :(

Hopefully it will get better soon. Well, since it's going to replace PATA, it most likely will be much better supported soon.

I personally look forward to having a system with SATA drives. Considering my current lack of money, I have no idea when that will happen though :(
