New Client Released

This version contains many performance improvements for Pentium 4 users. It is up to 25% faster than version 22. Athlon and Pentium 3 users will see a small speed increase too. The Windows version also has small improvements in the torture test. See whatsnew.txt for the full list of improvements.

can i install it in the middle of work? or do i need to wait until i finish the current number/thingy?

Step 1. You can upgrade even if you are in the middle of testing an exponent. Stop and exit the current version of the program. Optionally back up the directory.
Step 2. Download the appropriate program for your OS.
Step 3. Install the new version overwriting the previous version.

Version 23 with the speed increase has been out for some time, v23.7 just had one minor fix.

How exactly do you manualy communicate with the server with the linux clients. I see that using -c will communicate with the server, but it doesn't send new estimated completion times, etc.

start the client thus:

./mprime -m

that will give you the same menu choices as the windows client-- you want option 12

CTRL-C will drop you back to that menu from a running client
