Try making two seperate installations- using the client with JAVA, and the GUI installer.
I think by using the client with JAVA you'll get two JVMs, one "local" to each client.
(I'm just guessing here as I don't have a Linux duallie to try it)

And untarred it to 2 separate directories.

I edited the D2OL.lax file to reflect all the necesary absolute paths and it runs but when it gets to finalising the conformer it hangs.

It does the same if I am running TSC and D2OL.

I'd really like to have 2 instances of something on this box as it is only running at half potential.

And we need all the power we can get as people don't seem that focused on TSC.

Need A99 back and crunching.

Fozzie

D2OL and TSC only support running one client per PC, a second instance won't run if
it can see another one already running.

The way round this in windows is to run the clients as different users.
I do this on my dual boxes.

Try this in linux:

Make sure you have 2 copies of TSC in seperate directories

Log in as a normal user.
Open a cmd window and SU to root.
Start up one of the clients.

Open another cmd window
and run the other client.

Might work

This is really odd-- I have two instances running on my Windows duallies, and haven't had any problems. I did each one as a seperate installation, and the only thing I had to change was add a shotcut to the desktop as the second install overwrote the path on the first one's shortcut (?). But I have always been able to run 2 D2OL, 2 TSC, or one of each, with no problems as far as I can tell.

Odd I just run two copies as the same user no problem.
Ignore what I said earlier I'm losing the plot.

but I can't get 2 working under Linux.

OK, I'm going to start up a session of TSC to run with my D2OL session, and see if I can reproduce the problem on my Linux box.... I'll let you know how it runs.

Well Fozzie, I can't make it crash:(
Both clients ran right along, hit the "Finishing analysis" point, and then proceeded to run the GridWin engine for the next candidate. I'm not running a setup exactly like yours; it is a single proc box for one thing, but if the clients were going to foul each other I think they'd be more likely to do so sharing the one than on your duallie.
All I can tell you is how I set these up:
Each client was a complete install, with Java, using the GUI installer.
Each had the D2OL.lax file edited to set up for CLI operation.
I then cd to the clients directory and launch it using nice -19 ./D2OL

that's all I got to offer--- Hope you can get it sorted

alongside TSC and they are running, it will be some time before I have any results as it's an old Pentium Pro dual box.

I'll revive anything to try and catch you up RShepard. :D
