In the forum they talk about the 3 ways of running this -- including the file based method based on chgs you make to control.prp. This includes shutdown which is done by changing control.prp too. Then there is the big warning:


Note: Users must be careful to use shut the node down gracefully.
If they simply kill the Node's java process, the docking engine
may continue to run and there is a possibility of corrupting the
property files that control the Node's operation..

So even though their faq forum mentions firedaemon (lite version is free with limited function), they say it isnt supported and I wonder if it really would support this method of (changing a file) shutdown. If not, then a regular shutdown of the computer might end up killing processes in random order and hitting the warning.

So...seems safest to just run it in the startup dir. Has anyone tried to make it a service on windows?

Maybe I can put it into registry under local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run -- not sure this would work properly since this happens prior to login and there wouldnt be a user-taskbar to place the icon in.
