ERROR: deleting foldit.bat

I was getting error:msg deleting foldit.bat when trying to start or upload!
Only posting this because I was asked for more info....It is almost Tues.


AMD 400mhz

256mb pc100

8.9 gb hd

Windoze ME
Useing dfGUI to upload on dialup.

Erm Dude, YOu can't actually delete Foldit.bat even with DFGUi running cos it just keeps getting recreated or tweaked... why would you wanna delete it or is it something else that is deleting it

ERR That was The Error message the Client was giving me when I tried to upload and start erm any Ideas???? I have the whole file on disk if you want to see it. Why would I want to delete it and why would it want to update my nt screensaver when I am useing text client on a WIN ME box.:smoking:

I was the one that mentioned you should post more information about your system - (and I'm a df user, just like you) - hoping to save you from an identical post from Howard and/or Elena. As you may have noticed during the many previous protein changes.. the day before a protein change has not always been the best time to get the attention of Howard or anyone else on staff.

If you're using dfGUI to start, stop, and upload data - you might also want to get Jeff's attention in case the problem is related to dfGUI. All the 3rd party apps are now being discussed in the 3rd party forum.

Hopefully, after we get the protein update today, you can get a more helpful response.

I have to apologize.....last nite myself and a few friends over for X-Files and beer .... We got to talking about DF and I showed them the error I posted.

They think the sun revolves around boink and seti.

They added a couple of posts for me ..... I have edited.

The error is no biggie just curious about it.

The error msg was at the bottom of dfGui that I use for upload do to dialup connection. ie: Status:Error deleting foldit.bat

I just was concerned that this was more common and I had a setting wrong.
I redowloaded client and have not had a problem.I also had McAffee auto update turned on I disabled it.

That's a dfGUI error message then. It has nothing to do with the DF client. The contents of foldit.bat don't matter either, as the problem is that it can't delete that file. Usually this happens when the file is opened by some other program (stupid Windows file locking semantics). That could be the DF client itself (was it already started when you were trying to start it again?), or it could have been your antivirus program.

If you get it again, post in the Add-On/Utilities/Monitors/Stats forum thingy.

Yes, it is indeed a 3rd party error, or at least an error that occurs due to running 3rd party software.
It would be wise to let Jeff know in the appropriate Add-On/Utilities/Monitors/Stats forum - he may want to fix up dfGUI if that is indeed where the error originates.

Thank You Stardragon.....yes indeed it was that and probably my antivirus auto update.....The more I looked through my files it was most likley my setup. As usuall the more I read I realize it was my mistake sry for problem.
