I don't want to be an alarmest, but, we could use a few more 'spare' boxen on this one I think...
http://stats.open-dc.org/md5/teamstats.html
We need to be a little bit more alert is all I'm saying  :D
I just put 2 more boxen on it myself :geezer:

I'll match ya GHz for GHz, up to 8 computers worth, as that's all I have.

We declare processor speeds by model number (xp2600) x number of boxen until we are dead even, or real close, to the same GHz.
The we get a benchmark snapshot to start off with, then, go for 30 days, best run pharmage wins.
If you win, you get a free one week stay next to my fridge and snackbar, plus you can sleep on the Team Lounge Couch. ;)
Moogie keeps the place cleaned up spotless! :D
hint: don't let her catch you with your feet on the couch or coffee table, or your socks on the couch :scared:

But, that's only IF you win the 30 day gauntlet of course  :Pokes: :D
:notworthy :|punch|:

I propose we use 3 AMD xp2600s, any OS you want to use is fine with me...
/me wanders off wondering which OS client is the fastest, windoze or *nix or ? ;)

I'm in an Ars gauntlet right now helping with the super-fast DF protein, after that I will be swinging some power back to MD5CRK.

The spirit of Free-DC is do whatever project you feel like doing.

If you feel like helping out a project, then go ahead.

No need to get confused, although I agree that the number of projects that we are involved in can get a little over the top.

Remember, its all in the name of fun.:D

Actually, I'm very impressed with the level of participation we have in the many various projects and clients, and the Team Rank we hold in most projects!
:notworthy

I just tossed another one on MD5CRK this morning. :p
:D

Everyone keep up the great work in all projects!

The 'recruitment thread' was just to let folks know a little more weight on this project would be nice, but, it was not a 'sky is falling' request for emergency boxen support. ;)

I"ll stick a few boxes back on MD5CRK today, before I head out of town for a few days. I've been meaning to get back on it and get my rank back up.

Meh, Im in. Sick of DF and its server problems. :)

Looks fun. Guess I'll see how much a single XP 2000+ can do :)

With Bok's fantastic STATS :notworthy
And a 'no brainer' client, makes it a win win project to run for the tired and weary from other projects.
:D

So are we giving up on DF ?
Going to hand first place to the cows on a plate?

Bok
04-04-2004, 06:07 PM
Nope, keeping most of my stuff on DF, though today I've been running a few eon scores, trying to get to 200,000.

I've just got a number of boxes with quite a few generations stored up.

Tonight, I"m going to go through each of my boxes and make sure they are all running and I'll have 4 or 5 on md5 the rest on DF except for a couple of older machines running OGR.

I should have 1700points today, I guess they'll just come late in the day....

Got a few more machines running it now.

@IB

I have no XP2600s and I have no spare boxen to put on this project.

@PCZ

As soon as we get off this shit protein and if the next is slower I'll hit DF again.

Seriously we are far too small a concern to defend every project from teams such as the Cows. If we want to defend more we need more GHZ to do it with.

I'll throw a couple in the ring to help out.

Anyone know of any monitoring apps ?

PCZ
04-06-2004, 04:34 AM
Condor

I haven't found any monitoring apps.
If your machines are on a network you can check the md5_perf.xml files.

Fozzie
I know this protein is hard work, I need a break from it myself.
FortPrefect has overtaken me and is now in the No1 position and my heart tells me to switch over to md5 and RK his arse.
This would hurt US in DF and would allow the cows to overtake much faster.

PS
The cows are also in second place in md5 :bang:

Not yet, but if I ever get any free time this spring then I might whip up a md5GUI to help out.

Still a little too soon to tell, but, it looks like we got real close to matching the daily efforts!
Keep up the good work, we wouldn't want to loose such a large lead so quickly.

A monitoring app for this client would be fantastic! :D

Gah, after DF, these things seem to take forever. Havent finished a single WU yet. Oh well. How much do you 'get' out of each one?

PCZ
04-07-2004, 03:38 AM
excaliber

Assuming you are working on line the program will autosend after every 200 DP's.
On a fast PC this will be once a day.

Fast is a PC that can average 10.000000
{look at the perf.xml file if you are not using the GUI}

If you are averaging say 5.000000 then it will take approx 48 hrs to do 200 DP's

Ahh. Im running at about 5.

Any way to speed it up? Whats it like? Mem, FSB? Any tweaks out there?

Is that normal speed for an Athlon XP 2000+?

EDIT: Whoo! One down! :)
