I've had this problem for a while. It's irritating, but not enough so to warrant a reformat, or anything major like that.

On WinXP-H, about 1 out of 10 times that I Double-Click a Desktop icon to run it, the whole, except the wallpaper, will disappear. After a few seconds, everything will come back on & it's just like before.

Except, any tray-icons, third-party "stuff" (like Rainlendar & TClockEX), & any open Windows folders will NOT be visible. The folders are not still open, but the processes that were there before are still running (just not visibly).

If you kill them with Task Manager, & then restart them, they'll come back as normal. Any IE6 browser windows that were open WILL come back after the blink.

It SEEMS that double-clicking real fast increases the % of time this will happen, but not always. A slow DC will USUALLY work, but not always.

Nothing on the computer has been changed since it started this, & all normal maintenance (defrag, chkdsk, spyware, etc.) has been done. The computer SHOULDN'T be over-worked either. It doesn't overheat, isn't OC'd, & has 1 Gig of good memory. CPU is a 2600 that's OK too.

Anybody ever heard of this? Got any fixin' hints?

Thanks.
