Did you stop the client in mid-operation? Can you zip up your program files\md5crk\md5crk folder and email it to jlcooke@md5crk.com please and I'll see what I can figure out.

I tried that as well, w/ no luck.

I just found another machine that had the same error.

I had a power outage a few days ago and that seems to be the cause of these errors. Or at least maybe the client shutting down in mid-stroke or whatever.

One machine I had on a UPS and it still gave the error so I'm not 600% sure that's what it is.

In either case, I've had to reinstall the client on both machines to get back cracking again.

This one is bugging me. I can't see what would cause this but it's happened on 3-4 other clients.

Please let me know if anyone else see this and send me your md5crk directory.

I have the same problem on a client running windows 2000 SP4. The problem occurs as the client auto-runs after a reboot. I then have to delete all the XML files except the user one and it works. Next time it happens I'll send it to you. It's annoying because each time I've rebooted I haven't completed a work unit so about 150 DPs have been lost. I have never managed to submit a DP from this machine.

It's happened again, I've emailed you (jlcooke) If you don't get it email me matt@mattford.net and I'll send it again.

- this happens ONLY when you goto shutdown the computer, right?

Yes, and the error popup problem I mentioned to you went away after I uninstalled MD5CRK, it could be conincidental but I don't think I changed anything else. Basically like 50 popups with no message and just an OK button came up... The title of the popup was Error with a yellow exclamation mark in the main poup bit.

Popup? is this a webpage? Evil rick's problem is unrelated to your previous "I have spy ware on my computer" problem.

I just double checked the MSI and ZIPs on the md5crk.com site - they are unaltered.

Not a web page popup, it's a windows error box thingy, I think they call it an alert. Anyway loads of them came up, and they don't now that MD5CRK is uninstalled.

Yes, mine is evidently on shutdown.

I have like 1300+ DP's in an .xml file. Can I send them somewhere for credit?

Yeah my PC locked up again, this time it was a virtual memory error. How much memory does MD5CRK use? I never have any problems when I run the SoB client... This means I have another few DPs to send to you when you can try and rescue them...

According to the Task Manager, ~600KB "normal" and 1.7MB virtual memory.

Here's possibility:

- are there two md5crk shortcuts in your startup folder under start->Programs?

Matt, have you tried compressing your .xml file? I see about 60% compression with just using ZIP. RAR or BZIP2 would probably work even better.

Maybe you can get it small enough to fit on a floppy. Or get RAR/ZIP to split it across a couple of floppies?

Jeff.
