Works for me, I say we start the gauntlet on tuesday 12:01 am CST in order to get people ready. Feel free to cache and/or run from now. I'll switch the gauntlet stats over to D2OL at that point. It will only track the scores as of that day.... stats will be at the same place http://stats.open-dc.org/gauntlet . I'll link it off my main page.

Should we keep with the same two teams ? If so, then we have signed up at the moment as far as I can see

You have to run two instances.
So thats two seperate directories.

The easiest way is install the program twice in different directories.

Still got another 10 or so to get it installed on, need a new power supply on one other. Seems to run VERY nicely on my Athlon64 under Gentoo64 build.

On a side note, I have one box (gentoo on an XP2600) which seems to spawn about 30 java processes when running D2OL..... it's in cli mode with LaunchMain set to false so I'm not sure what is going on :( GridWin.exe only ends up getting about 20% cpu

But I'm thinking a few tweaks to the DFProgressNode might create a D2OLProgressNode...at least basic status perhaps without per-candidate info. Would be nice to see all node status in one list ala DFProgress. Also dont need share mounts.

Mag, I run the same node id on 5 machines at work running seven instances.
Just copy your d2ol folder and run 2 from differant folders. Dont forget to flush the cache on you copy so it doesnt crunch the same units.
I have never had a problem doing this even though its not "officially" supported

I am running it on my PXE nodes and they don't have X.

The program throws up a few errors when I start it but I ignore those.

I start them up with ./D2OL controller:file &

In the general.prp file I have launchmain set to false.

The biggest problem is installing without X.
I used a linux box with X to run the the installer, once I had a directory structure
and the config files, I used this to set up the boxes without x.

Bok just set it up on Gentoo and probably has the info you require.

Ok, and for a part-time 2.9Ghz (All AMD) I need to know how to lower the priority of the Windows client. It competes with all of the programs and makes the systems sluggish. I can't roll it out if I can't make it invisible enough to keep it from interfering with other programs....

i had to test all out (xp32/64bit difference etc.) the last 2 days...now on xp64...works quite well yet :)

sadly there is no d2ol client optimized for 64bit :(

It seems that a unknown colonial has done a little hacking work to the gauntlet stats. His work seem to be childish, and done with Paint and using the mouse on a bendable surface.

Well, I'm out one cruncher.

My main machine, an XP 2000+ has died. I believe it is the motherboard, because the processor is not cracked, and is not burnt. I have replaced all of the RAM, power supply, HDD's, CDROM's, and everything else I can think of.

It won't even turn on. I get a click sometimes, and then nothing.

Until this gets fixed, my production will drop to near zero, reling on a very slow old (PII 266) for all of my work. I can't runD2OL at the same time as when I am working.

I hope to get it fixed, weither by upgrade or just a new mobo, I'm not sure. I'm sorry to team colonial for any inconvience I have caused.

It won't even turn on. I get a click sometimes, and then nothing.

Some things I've been reading after googling on your dead mobo include: yanking the battery and the power cable and doing a cmos jumper reset; pull all extras from system, yank all drive cables from mobo, reduce to 1 memory card, onboard video only. Contact manufacturer to see if they have suggestions having seen this before. And of course -- post in FreeDC Hardware forum so the experts around here can give you some suggestions too! Good luck and don't give up -- that is a hard situation to deal with.

Can someone please tell Gopher that we will find some heavy thunderstorms with hail to send his way if he dosen't stop giving us those sort of storms.

The latest advisory has us with winds up to 70mph and hail up to two inches.

The storm is purple on the radar, the highest intensity it can go. The only other time I saw that was during Floyd!

It's just too darn HOT in Southern England at the moment.

Most of the PC's at home shut themselves down around lunchtime.
Not much I could do about it till they cooled down again this evening.

Ambient temperature was over above 30 C at midday.
Summers are definitely getting warmer in this part of the world.

we have been averaging a high in mid to upper 80's for the last month already, getting steadily warmer. During the day the aircon kicks in, at home, at 85F..

MagicFan, when you have many PC's though, it raises the temperature even more in the room......
