Put the system together and now it doesn't work.

Mucho pissed off and worried as this is a customer's machine I'm building.

I switch on the power and everything goes for half a second then powers off.

I was getting an 04 error before this happened.

Please God don't say I have fried the fecker.

Can't find anything in the manual or on the website about an 04 error on the display.

Any help would be most welcome.

Check the FAN Speed Sensor connector. It thinks the CPU Fan is not working?

I switch on the power and everything goes for half a second then powers off.

Try holding down the INSERT key, turn on the power, when the BIOS posts, hit the DELETE key.

See if that will let you turn off the Q-Fan monitoring ;)
Which mobo?

Fozzie, did you ever figure it out ?

It just *has* to be heat/fan related...

I've let the smoke out of a few processors...
Not good ! You need to leave the smoke inside the processor !

Hope you git'er done !

and it looks like it may be either the memory or the AGP card.

I am going to see if I can buy a GFX card and a stick of RAM to try out.

I'll also try the fan sensor too but I am sure I got everything inserted right as I took great care over this one.

I've had this happen to me a couple times. Clearing the CMOS fixes it for me.

It's a KV8 Pro with a Sapphire Radeon 9200SE and Corsair Value Select DDR 400.

If you guys can fin anything about why this is not working I'd be mucho grateful.

I get a 0.4 on the POST display.

Can't get to the BIOS screen at all.

The fan sensor is correctly installed and the fan itself a Thermaltake Venus 12.

Scratching my head here and I am going to have an unhappy customer on my hands.

Can't afford to just absorb the cost of this one either.

Fozzie,

you are connecting BOTH power connectors to the mobo right ? I'm not sure if it would get anything without the smaller 4-pin connector but it's worth a shot..

Answer here (http://forums.viaarena.com/messageview.cfm?catid=12&threadid=55355)

I bet it's that Corsair Value Select DDR 400 that's the problem.

impressive turnaround too an dthey stated it was a memory error.

So I had some OCZ DDR3500 but it didn't like that either.

So i go and spend £75 on a Kingston stick only to find that it didn't like that either.

Seems it needs at least the KVR400X64C3A/512 and I got the plain KVR400X64C3/512.

Looks like I have upgraded my home boxen without even really wating too as I can't send/take the memory back now I've broken the seals.

I am going to try anyway.

So I am going to have to try the KVR400X64C25/512 which Kingstons "configurator" assures me will be OK.

Well I have learned something, the new K8T800 Pro is one fussy ****er for memory.

Well if I was finding that a mobo was being that much of a BITCH I would send it back saying it's not working... even all thought I using parts that are up to standard and do work on other systems and I 've had them tested ;)

fozz.... :(

crap mobo...all k8t800 boards are crap...

get a nforce 3 250 mobo...

k8t800/nforce3 150 chipset is unlocking pci/agp clock
no chance to get oc if you dont want to burn your graphic card or ata/sata drives or whatever you got on pci bus...

dunno if the pro chipset is doing that too on socket 754...

at home i got a shuttle an 50r from a friend of mine which is working as it should...i'm looking forward for doing a vdimm vstab mod to get all out of my ocz 3500 eb's
i suspended the asus board i bought last thursday (asus k8v se deluxe, via k8t800) because of the high pci/agp clocking...any1 want it? mk? wirthi? :p
or even fozzie? my ocz dimms worked on it and its working fine but i dont need it because of the unlock...i updated bios on it so that the newest 64 cpus should work on it...
