Hi,

I've not been able to contact the TKC server for almost a week now. Anybody knowing what's going on over there?

Just found that on the www.piqsoftware.com homepage:

TKC Server Relocation in Progress We are currently in the process of relocating the TKC server. Unfortunately we cannot provide an estimate for when the service will be available again, but we are working to reactivate it as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience.

Something from http://www.piqsoftware.com/:

9/17/2004:
We are currently arranging new hosting for the TKC service. Unfortunately this is taking longer than expected, partly due to the influence of Hurricane Ivan in our area. Our best guess is that TKC will be active within 10 days, but this is only an estimate and is subject to change.

Our apologies for the prolonged delays.

We'll see if we get the TKC-Server back...

If it's back, remind me to start my stats-script at the-mk.at :D

No big deal, as long as the stats accept that I do a huge flush afterwards :)

TKC is coming back!
We are proud to announce the new hosting for TKC has been secured and the service will be available within 48 hours, barring any significant unforeseen problems. It will take some time to restore the server and statistics databases completely, and it may take a few days for the new server IP to propagate to all the DNS servers, so please be patient if the site is not available immediately.

Thanks for all of your understanding and support during our move!

and the latest posts from Apoch out of their forum (http://www.piqsoftware.com/dev/forums/viewthread.asp?id=645&page=2):

I'm posting from the connection now; there's going to be a fairly sophisticated network setup behind this connection so it won't all be finished up until tomorrow. However everything looks good and solid and I'm confident the server will be live again by the end of the weekend.

The server is running and everything looks good so far. However it is going to take some time to rebuild all of the statistics and rankings records. I will be leaving it disconnected overnight so it can finish reconstructing that data; as soon as the database is loaded up I will be doing some QC checks and then bringing it up for public access.

We'll see how long that takes...

As from their homepage:

9/26/2004
TKC is back!
The relocation of the Tiny KeyCounter server has been successfully completed and everything is up and running. All statistics and rankings should be exactly how we left them before the move. Thanks again everyone for your support and patience during the move.

If there are any problems please let us know either on the forums or at keycount@piqsoftware.com.

False Alarm
It appears that there has been a hardware issue during the move of the TKC server. We're taking it back offline until we can isolate and repair the problem. Our most sincere apologies for the additional delays.

And their current thread: http://www.piqsoftware.com/dev/forums/viewthread.asp?id=648

Do you think that "points" come with you when you change teams?

Carlos

First we have to wait until the server is up again, which will take some time...

And: no, your points wont be transfered if you change teams (as written in ths thread: http://www.piqsoftware.com/dev/forums/viewthread.asp?id=609)

Sorry :(

My TKC-Statspage is also up again!

Linkage: http://www.the-mk.at/tkc/

As usual with last day and last week information.

But I've resetted the DB in the background, so it's grabbing the data from scratch... have fun!

In any case there seems to be a network problem between the server and the rest of the universe. It's running fine, and sending out data, but not receiving anything. (from http://www.piqsoftware.com/dev/forums/viewthread.asp?id=656&page=2)

and

The internet uplink seems to be down. There's a purely crappy piece of hardware on the connection that I'm going to replace as soon as possible. Unfortunately, I won't be able to reset the device until I get off work. (from http://www.piqsoftware.com/dev/forums/viewthread.asp?id=658)

Poor Apoch... hasn't much luck with hardware :(

Hopefully he irons that problem out ASAP

100 more keystrokes for me wirthi. :)

that may be the truth, but I won't be dumb and lose them. I will keep them. All to myself.

Wirthi, you are quite the whiles away from me. Granted most of the people I have to pass are MIA right now.

I've got one thing you don't...3 female roommates addicted to AOL/AIM/MSN. E-mails and IMz throughout most of the day. I installed the client on their computer today at 3AM and they already have 5700 keystrokes. By tonight they'll have roughly 8k-10k of keystrokes. Multiply that by 30 days (to make it easy) and you have between 240,000 thru 300,000 keystrokes in a month  :scared: :spank: , just from their computer, granted production won't stay that high. Some nights it's more, some nights it's less. Either way, I estimate I can pick up about 100,000-200,000 keystrokes a month from their computer alone...

Just think what it'll be like when I've got all 4 of us doing finals papers and the like. 24hr computer keying.

Oh yeah....
You're mine...

The keystrokes...they are mine...my own...my prrrreeeccciiooousssss... (and yes, I cna do that voice perfectly)

I've got a sister who's typing "some" keystrokes too, but I gave her an own account! (Maybe you know outnow15 from the stats? That's my sister! :D )

I'd appreciate it, if you register different accounts for different persons using the computer, so the stats display what you type and what the others type.

I know that TKC is a fun project, but it's one person per account project, sorry.

Maybe you can keep this in mind...

Have a nice day!

Hmmm... *ponders*....I'll make their computer the CaptainMooseInc account, and my base computer CaptainMooseInc1 or something...

All my beautiful mathematics....straight to the :dump:
