transfering buffers

Hi,

does the method to upload the buffer-files as described in "How to upload orphaned files (Advanced users only)" also work for buffers of another OS?

I currently fold using Linux but I want to upload the files with Windows. I just copy the *.bz2 files and the filelist.txt to a Windows-Client, convert the filelist.txt to DOS-format and upload the buffer.

Looking at my stats I guess that method works. But can I do anything "bad" working like this?

All files in the DF project are machine-independent (and even endian-independent!) so this should be fine. (just ensure you transer the .txt file as ASCII so it gets the extra carriage return characters for DOS text).
