Which OS is better to use in an AMD 64, Win XP SP2 or Win XP 64-bit edition?

I'm asking because Win XP 64-Bit Edition is a pre-release software with time-limited and will expire in 360 days.

just run normal XP SP2 the 64 bit runs either 32 bit or 64 bit programs

I am dual booting XP SP1a and XP 64-bit on my A64 machine. I find myself using the XP SP1a OS about 95% of the time.

I read somewhere that SP2 has some problems with AMD64 processors. Is that true?

I haven't used XP 64, but its true there are issues with XP SP2 and the AMD64 processors. Various programs write directly to the screen buffer (ie: DivX player) and violate NX rules. NX is turned on by default (if available) in SP2.

A quick google search for 'NoExecute SP2' or 'NX SP2' should turn up more info.

BTW - Fedore Core 2 x86_64 works beautifully and adds quite a bit of extra punch to your computing.
