It will buffer up to 6 sets of data before going to 'dumb' mode

If a computer isn't connect to the internet and have finish his 30 000 "units", it will drop in dumb mode. But what is the dumb mode?

I've not heard it called that before, but what youre describing (ie what the client does after cacheing 6 5k sets of structures) is simply that it stops crunching. if youre running the screensaver version youll see a spinning box instead of the structures generated. basically a client in dumb mode is bored stupid:D
if youre a modem user (or even if youre not) and want to keep the client from going into dumb mode, run it with the -df switch (you can add it to the command line in foldit.bat or check the box for "buffer more structures" in the screensaver). this will buffer as many structures as it makes and then you can upload them all at once if you want. (in the text client you can do this by running the client with the -df -u t swictches)

-df and -i f have already been done, but how much cache does it increase?
