There are windows and nix clients available {With source code so you can compile it yourself if you want}

Of all the non medical projects I believe this has the most worthy 'science'.
The stats are good and all the Boinc features are enabled, {Unlike some Boinc projects I could mention}

I have been running this on a couple computers since I saw this post.
Thanks for the info.

Maybe you have some insight as to why one or two of my insallations
sends me a message that the program is delaying communication with
the server. And other messages that indicate no work is available.

I go to the website within a couple minuets of this message and the
home page says the server is up and has a number of work units avail.

Question, questions.

The Database behind LHC is struggling a bit.
Occasionally when your client tries to get more work it will get sent a message that the server is busy.
The client then backs off for a set amount of time.

Normally LHC doesn't have these issues but there has been a lot more folks joining recently and they now need to beef up the backend.

PS
This might work
If you have a client that has decided to back off connecting to the server.
Stop the client and look for a lock file, delete it and restart the client.

what i have done to get more "WU's" is to go to > preferences > general then set it to communicate at most once a day. so now the client panics if it has less than one days work.:D :D :D

There are some wildly different size work units from LHC -

I just got something called v64tunescanxxxxxx that looks like a 4 hr work unit, while the rest in the queue are the more common v64lhc1000xxxxxx type which take about 39 minutes.

I guess that's one way to slow down server access - hand out longer work units :rotfl:
