Pop your names below with an estimate of the GHZ you would be deploying.

This is so we can divide up the teams between Borg and Species8472 as even as possible to run a nice close race.

Please also state whether you want this for 2 weeks, 4 weeks or 6 weeks.

10 nodes, ~13 gHz

Run it 'til the wheels come off

just 1 node, at 1.73 GHz (but these are high-quality Athlon GHz, not those cheap shoddy P4 GHz :) )
maybe another node later on if i can manage to cool it better.

black_civic55
01-12-2005, 11:33 AM
3 nodes at a total of about 6.3 GHz

Dont matter to me how long it goes. The longer it is maybe i can recruit a few more computers.

/me's not in. I'm going to switched all my machines to SOB. I only got P4s and they are worthless on this project :( while they rock at SOB.

I can add another machine but I need to know how to install FAD as a service or in hidden mode, without the tray icon.
The machine is an AMD 1100Mhz with Win Me.

I recently shipped a big chunk of my pharm to a customer. So, to satisfy this gauntlet, I have moved almost all my firepower from D2OL over to FaD.

I will throw in about 50GHz for as long as possible.

1.75 GHz Sempron(rated 2200+)

Unfortunately I read that DPAD does not offer a Linux client.

Oh well... guess its back to FaD.

I have a Sempron 2800+, I can't remember the GHz on it. I'm in for any length of time since it's the only DC I run.

and then we can agree a good start finish time.

This gives everyone some time to get into the swing of things beofre the heat is on.

So get those clients installed Win and Linux are available.

How to configure is in the forum somewhere but if you have questions pop in a new thread and we have plenty of people who can help out.

alpha

Will there be gauntlet stats?

Fozzie
01-14-2005, 06:48 AM
so at the moment it will be manual stats courtesy of Foz and M$ Excel.

 :scared:

alpha
01-14-2005, 07:11 AM
Would it be possible to throw the stats on a webpage somewhere temporary? I just find that much easier to track than posting daily stats in a thread on the forum.

I thought the-MK did some nifty stats for a gauntlet before, maybe he'll see this thread  :D

Edit: surely you mean OpenOffice. ;)

Bok
01-14-2005, 07:59 AM
Actually, I might be able to throw something together, I'll give it a go.

Not as much as usual but I have most of the farm down to save on electric.

Any word on when the gauntlet will start?

willy1
01-14-2005, 02:43 PM
Looks like 28 GHertzes all lined up to crunch

Fozzie
01-14-2005, 03:48 PM
Looks like we have a good roster.

Bok reckons he can rustle up some stats.

So we wait on the UberStatsLord.:notworthy

Running time 2 weeks from the given go day.

Warm those nodes up just to get them used to feed on FaD wus, don't want any hiccups when the pressure is on.

I'll work out the teams this weekend.

Of course I'm open to negotiation, briefly, if you think I have it wrong.

Then Bok can add the cruchers into their respective teams.

Bok
01-14-2005, 03:56 PM
database and feed into it already up and running :)

I just created a new table holding

name, team, start_metric, active

Then I've created a new project and written a standard gathering script which instead of going off to a webpage, just does a join between the new_table and the standard fad stats..

Works fine..

Now to do the php front end....

OK for give me I'm new here how does this Gauntlet work?
Are we split up into teams and race each other?
I thought it was at first, to see what our max output was as a team!
:bang:

black_civic55

haha to be honest thats what i thought at first too. But either way its done its putting huge work into FAD.

:bang:

Well, Fozzie will make the 'rules', but broadly

Yes, we split into two teams but the stats will cover the teamrank and projrank within this 'gauntlet'. The main objective is of course the total output of the two teams (and therefore Free-DC) Splitting into two is just an added dimension of fun.

Perhaps Fozzie will suggest awards for output per day and then teams can co-ordinate :dump: 's.?? Though perhaps a non team person can be set up to nominate days at the last minute.

I don't know, these are just off the top of my head. I'm sure others have better ideas!! It's an evolving concept :)

I just do the stats and I'll have time next week as I'm on the road up in Boston so evenings are free for coding, then after that I've got a business trip to Brazil, a week on Sunday. I believe the hotel there also has high speed net access, so even more time :)

Fozzie,

I am out under my nick, em99010pepe, but in under Team_Brazil nick.
Processing power in Ghz is growing every day so I don't know exactly the number.

Carlos

First calculation gives 9.05Ghz for Team_Brazil. Still missing information from three members.
