I can't get EON to connect from inside the firewall.

Evidently it doesn't use a standard port (80, 23). Does anyone know any specifics about this?

I'm seeing connections from the client to eon.cm.utexas.edu port 10204. This is likely blocked by your firewall.

It certainly would be blocked.

I guess that's the end of EON beyond my one home box.

Too bad, I kinda like this project. Something different from the endless medical based or pure number theory projects.

Maybe back to the particle accelerator thing.

Sorry about the firewall confusion. It's part of the underlying mithral client/server package. We just left it in as it, but it doesn't appear to work properly. Eon does communicate on port 10204. Sometimes ports about 1024 are left open, but if not, the settings in the client.cfg are not going to help. It's on the list. If you want to be tricky, you can use an ssh tunnel, or as you mention, contribute to another worthwhile project.
